Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon: The Official 50th Anniversary Photobook

Sumptuous!
A fantastic behind the scenes look at the recording and touring of The Dark Side of the Moon, with great photography, predominantly by the legendary Jill Furmanovsky. The book also includes the full tour schedule, and both preliminary sketches and the final design for the original UK album release, including the posters that were included. There is an appendix with information for each page (one image per page). The quality of the book, especially paper quality, is excellent, as is the reproduction of the photographs. I won't say this book is a "must have", as not everyone will be a photography and Pink Floyd nut, but I can't see many fans wanting to be without this, especially us geriatrics who "Remember a day".

It is a photo book
Before buying, I read the item description, and knowingly preordered a book which it tells you is full of photographs. Nowhere in the description does it say there’s stories in there, as the stories are in the photographs. I love it and will look at it often. If you want a written biography, then save your money. If you want art, like I did, it’s perfect.

Great Picture Book
Very nice to have this at the price - nearly 15% off.Important that you realise that it is a 'Picture Book', because, for some reason, people are slating it for lack of dialogue. Hey, the clue is in the title! The pictures are the narrative!

Poor product
As I edit this review on 5th April 2023 it's interesting to see that 76% of people who have bothered to review this book give it 1 to 2 stars but 78% of the 9 who haven't bothered to review it have left 4 to 5 stars. Read the reviews not the headline star rating!. Externally it appears a quality item but upon looking inside I was hugely disappointed. I knew it was a photo book and realise the photos are 50 years old but every page is at least a third white page with poor fuzzy black and white photos. No attempt to enhance the photos appears to have been made and some colour photos would have been welcome. They have been sequenced ie pre-gig sitting around, warming up/setting up, in concert, post gig but none in the studio recording DSOTM. However, nearly everyone looks bored including the crowd, it's not a life affirming view unlike the classic album. Surely there are better photos. The details of the pictures are all listed in the back, which is a pain for the viewer, surely placing the info under the pictures themselves would be viewer friendly rather than layed out as it is for some artistic reason I don't understand. In the back are some pictorial details of the album art and the pyramid poster is reproduced but not the 2nd poster or stickers, a bad omission if they're trying to be comprehensive. Don't be fooled by the advertising pics of the inner sleeve of the album and the geometric shapes and the three or four B & W photos, 90% if the book is a tedious thumb through in my opinion. My copy is being returned as I write this and I've ordered the Martin Popoff book instead.
