Springfield Leather Company Basting Tape, Double Faced, 3/8" x 50 Yard Roll

This basting tape is the answer for difficult sewing projects. I was making a University of Washington large cushion cover and this tape let me sew without using every pin in my arsenal! It cut my sewing time in half as I used very few pins and all the layers held together. I did notice some stickiness on my sewing machine needle at times, so I used an alcohol gauze wipe to remove it from the machine needle, for ease of sewing. While stitching one area, I found I had to sew continuously through an alcohol gauze strip so the thread would not keep breaking. I am an occasional sewer, so maybe someone else has found an easier solution when this problem occurs. I did have long seams and did sew rather rapidly, so maybe that added to the “GUMMING”.

It works for what my wife bought it for

Not quite sticky enough when working with boat canvas, but I only need it to hold a few minutes. I burnish it down as needed. Does work good on the zippers. Way cheaper than ordering from Sailrite. I can't justify the extra cost for a bit more adhesion with Sailrite. I get that for when I really need it to hold and use this on the not so important areas.

This product works as advertised. Sticks well to vinyl fabrics. For sewing tight curves I would probably choose a 1/4 or 3/8 wide version of this tape.

I believe this was the first time I bought from this brand but it has worked as expected. Definitely satisfied so far.
