An excellent flight simulator
The FlightGear software GUI and user manuals are superbly done and I do appreciate that it must have taken lots of time by their team of experts to create this simulator. I am a real pilot with commercial and instrument ratings and also owned a real Cessna-150 for 10 years. This simulator is truly realistic. I first tried using a Windows-7 desktop with an 8 year old graphics card – all functions worked but with way too much time latency. My Windows-10 laptop was an order of magnitude faster processing and more fun. Read the user manuals first then have fun flying…

Not worth the trouble.
It didn't work. I wasted an hour following directions and trying to troubleshoot........Nothing. I'm returning it. I'm no longer going to deal with Flight Gear ever again. Don't waste you money or your time. Nothing on the memory stick but corrupted files.

Too complex. Would not load on my windows 10.

There is a ton of things available on this one.
It will take a long time to get familiar with it because of the large number of different aircraft.

Plenty of challenges for a pilot
I was looking for a cheap setup to polish some rusty skills. This is a quality simulator with very little cost investment. I added a Logitech Pro 3D joystick. Joystick setup was easy. Planes and environments are good enough.

Don't buy.....this is public domain free software!!! You find this out when you start up dating software. You even can download the latest version.....Introduction to FlightGearFlightGear is an open-source flight simulator. It supports a variety of popular platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) and is developed by skilled volunteers from around the world. Source code for the entire project is available and licensed under the GNU General Public License.

even better than the original
I had bought this for my Dad, not realizing that he already had this program and loves it. This one is the very updated version because it has so many more airports, and routes, and planes, etc. He is a retired avionics engineer who used to fly planes to test the equipment, so he says this program is absolutely the most realistic one he's found.

Poor performance.
Software does not perform well. Choose an airport for takeoff and plane shows up in a muddy field and can't get off the ground. Not good. Reinstalled the program and no improvement. Not good.
