Totally Gross, Totally Fun, Totally Delicious
I’d never used a jello mold before, but it was easy, following the directions posted by another reviewer. (The mold does NOT come with directions.) I ended up making two, though. I started with cherry jello on the first one, but it was too red, so the food coloring turned it the perfect shade - if I wanted it to look like raw liver. Second time around, I started with strawberry, and it came out the right shade of pinkish-gray. Garnished with strawberries “rotted” with cocoa powder and spiders made of grapes and raisins. Big hit at our Halloween potluck!

It seems to be of good quality made of a thick plastic with nice detailing
The mold is a full brain shape, big enough to fit on my own small-ish head. It seems to be of good quality made of a thick plastic with nice detailing. This mold is definitely not for use in any kind of heating application. I would say it would work well for latex, chocolate, and of course jello. After testing out the mold....it works well, the jello releases well after you break the seal(use your finger to gently pull the jello away from one edge)Mine had a defect, it leaked a bit of jello but i solved this by setting the mold into a pan of really cold water to set the layer closest to the mold really quickly, it worked great.

Worked well after the second try.
The only reason this isn't 5 stars is for 2 reasons. First, it does not stand on it's own. With had to use a small mixing bowl to set it in so it would stand up while being refrigerated. The second issue was that there's no tips or useful instructions. The first time it was used, it peeled off about 1/2 the the brain and didn't look good. For best results, Use nonstick spray on it before you pour the gelatin in. Before you take the gelatin out, soak the outside of the mold in warm water for 10-15 seconds. Use a spatula to loosen the outside of the gelatin and shake it a little to ensure it's loose inside the mold. Put a plate or pan on top and flip it. My second one came out perfect after doing it this way.

Poor Quality
I purchased this to make a jello "brain" for our Halloween dinner, thinking I would be able to use it for years to come. I was dismayed that the plastic was a very thin material - think thin plastic cup. I washed this with a sponge with no other dishes in the sink and by the time I was finished there were already stress marks on the plastic. I would compare it to squishing a plastic cup and when it pops it back out there are white stress marks on the cup. The difference is, I didn't squish the mold at all; just washed it and ended up with the same results. I decided to use it anyway and hope that everything would go as planned. I made the jello, poured it in, and then realized that the mold couldn't sit by itself. I rigged it to sit on a plate with some cans supporting the mold so it didn't tip over. 30 minutes later I checked the jello to make sure it was setting up right. It was at that point that I realized that some of the "stress marks" had turned into cracks, which allowed the jello to leak out. I lost about 1/4 of the jello before it set up enough to stop leaking out.The jell mold came with a drink package and gummy worms, (a surprise to me). I didn't intend to use them but wouldn't have been able to if I had. The gummy worms were all melted into one solid piece of gummy. I purchased this in October and live in Montana. There is no reason on my end that this should have arrived melted.I'm highly disappointed with this product. It is certainly not worth the $13 I paid for it and will never be able to be used again.

A huge success!
This mold is very sturdy. I will be able to use it for years. It was a terrific hit at the party I brought it to. I won first prize for scariest dessdert by a landslide! Here is the recipe I used: 4 3 oz pacakages peach jello, 3 cups boiling water, 1 12 oz fluid can evaporated milk, 1 1/2 cups peach schnapps. Oil the brain mold, stir jello powder into boiling water to desolve, allow to cool to room temperature (or milk will curdle), about 1/2 hour. Mix in milk & schnapps. Pour into mold and refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours or over night. Place mold in larger bowl of hot water for 30 seconds to a minute, then invert onto platter. I used grenadine and karo syrup plus a bit of red paste food coloring to make the "blood" then painted it on the mold with a child's paint brush and decorated around the platter with some lettuce leaves.

I got a leaky one
The media could not be loaded. The mold itself actually stood up better than what other reviews said. But the first thing I noticed when I took out of the package were all the hard nubby plastic things on the mold that I was guessing would misshape the brain. Whatever. But what I didn’t realize was that it was going to make the whole mold leak. I am so glad that I put it inside of a bowl while the Jell-O set because the brain mold did in fact LEAK. For clarification- From the bottom, not from spillage over the top. Not a good indication of quality of it can’t hold up to its first use.I used three packets of Jell-O, and it did not fill the mold up all the way to the top. Almost, but not all the way. I’d say 6 cups.So I ended up with a smaller brain due to the leaking.I am exchanging for another one because I still think it’s a fantastic idea. It’s still a cute and spooky little tool that makes for a great edible decor!I am hoping that my replacement is a home run and I can then adjust my rating. :)If you’re curious about my photos, I used peach Jell-O with carnation milk. And after it was set and cold, I poured a small bit of liquid room temp strawberry Jell-O over the top right before serving. Looked great! But not gonna lie, it was NOT very tasty.I’ve never had peach Jell-O, but I really wanted to get the right brain color. maybe I muddled the taste too much with the carnation milk… I don’t know. 🤷♀️Just thought I’d mention it in case anyone was curious. Also, like others suggested:*Pam spray in the mold before hand*Run warm water around the mold or dip bottom half in a bowl of warm water, just slightly! Do this right before you get it out of the mold to make it slide out easier and in one piece.
