Great tool, and a great time-saver.....
This is a great tool! I use it as a truck driver who hauls D.O.D & high-security items. The seals that are used on our trailers are the bolt-style and are very hard to cut if you're using bolt-cutters. I hesitate to write the rest of this review in case there are people reading this who have bad intentions..... but I'll hope for the best... If you're a truck driver who needs to cut bolt-seals regularly, then you should buy this plus an extra battery. It's so easy to slap on a battery to this cutoff grinder, & in less than 5 seconds, the bolt is cut. A side benefit is that the top of the bolt doesn't fly off like when using standard bolt-cutters. This helps when the dock agent asks you to show them both pieces of the seal. It fits in the sidebox of my truck much easier than a pair of 3 foot long cutters, & I don't have to worry about keeping them sharp, or rusting. The cutting wheel on this lasts me over 6 months of use before I have to change it out, which takes only a minute or two. By the way, the battery lasts me about a week before I have to recharge it. Like I said, it's ten times easier to use than trying to hold a pair of 3 foot cutters, and using them in the dark, rain, etc. Just 5 seconds and presto, the seal is cut.

Durable, but eats batteries
5 stars for durability, but 4 stars for battery life.Using XRP packs with a mfr date of 2008, I could cut through about 24 linear inches of 1/8" x 1" angle on a single battery. If you are careful to avoid binding, you may get more per charge.I also purchased the grinder wheel and associated guard. It works, but the battery life is disappointing. I would use a corded unit for almost all grinding applications.Wire wheel performance was acceptable for short post-weld cleanup passes. You will only be disappointed if you try to use it for large surface prep applications.Bottom line: I would recommend it for short (couple of minutes or less) wire wheel or cutoff wheel jobs, but use as a grinder only when location prevents corded grinder operation.

Indispensable tool
I first got one of these tools as part of a multi-tool kit and thought it would see very little use. I was way wrong! I use the tool almost every day in my job as a carpenter. It's great for cutting metal, but I've probably used it most cutting through stucco. That's rough duty for any tool, and this cut-off tool has performed remarkably well. I recently ordered this tool as a replacement for one that I had for years. It met a fatal demise when I dropped it on concrete off a 32 foot ladder.I was pleased to see that this newer version of the tool has an upgraded chuck locking mechanism identical to the corded DeWalt cut off tool.I have a rotation of 5 Lithium-Ion 18v batteries and have found that, with continuous use of the tool, one charger can stay ahead of it... even when doing power demanding tasks such as cutting stucco with a diamond blade. You'd need a bushel of Ni-cads to keep with it, so if you buy it with batteries, definitely get the Lithium-Ions.This tool is versatile and is a real work horse for a battery operated tool.

DeWalt 18v Cordless cutoff tool no spanner wrench
The product is what I expected. What is REALLY BAD is it arrived with no spanner wrench. What it did come with is an allen wrench, for what I have no idea!?!?!? Would be nice for the company to send the spanner wrench that should come with any angle grinder / cutoff tool. Everything else seems to be right and the 18v batteries work fine.UPDATED REVIEW: I was contacted by the seller and the allen wrench. They explained how the allen wrench works and no spanner wrench is needed. This took a quick look at the tool with the allen wrench in hand. It works perfectly as explained. I am upping my star rating from 3 to 5 and I have no issues with the tool.

Best international shipping I've ever tried. Worth every penny!
Working with tough materials requires one tough, no-nonsense tool, and the DEWALT DC411B cordless cut-off tool is designed to meet those challenges. Its 6,500-RPM motor and 4-1/2-inch-diameter cutting wheel are perfectly engineered to cut and grind metal. From rusted rebar and steel I-beams to resilient threaded rod and corroded angle iron, its abrasive wheel will slice through most metals quickly and cleanly. And since there's no cord to drag around, you can work un-tethered anywhere at any height or angle. Besides the cutting and grinding wheel, this versatile tool will also accept a Zirconia-grit flap disk, stringer wire wheel, and rubber-backed sanding disc, allowing you to clean, smooth, shape and finish a wide variety of materials, including steel, wood and masonry. The DC411B has a low-profile, jam-pot housing that ensures precise gear alignment for a smoother, quieter transmission while allowing access to tight, narrow spaces. Other commercial-grade features include a two-position side handle, large trigger switch with lock-off button, and quick-change wheel release. The DC411B comes with a Type 27 safety guard, Type 1 cutting wheel and safety guard, two matched flanges, wrench, and side handle. It's backed by DeWalt's 90-day money-back guarantee, full one-year service contract, and three-year limited warranty. The battery and charger are sold separately.

Don't waste time trying to cut roots and limbs with a grinder/cutter - but that is a nice tool to have in your box."}},{"@type":"Question","name":"Is this grinder compatible with a DC9098 18v battery","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"This tool is compatible with all Dewalt 18 volt batteries. They will all fit this tools base. That said as this tool is fairly power hungry the higher capacity batteries give longer run times. The Dewalt 9096 XRP which I believe you might have meant works well as does the Dewalt DC9181 XRP lithium. Both these XRP batteries have about the same run times which are 50-100% longer than the smaller batteries. Once again any 18 volt Dewalt battery will work and make the tool run. My experience with this tool and these batteries is that this tool uses plenty of juice- like the cordless saws and is best served with the use of the higher amp/hour rated batteries. Even then expect to be charging batteries often when using this tool for continuous grinding purposes. I love this tool- it's very handy but if I have a lot of work to do and power is available a corded tool is often the way to go just like with the cordless saws. I often times use two chargers and four batteries simultaneously when using these tools for a full days job - otherwise I run out of charged batteries. - they can't be charged as fast as the tool uses them."}},{"@type":"Question","name":"5/8 x 11 shaft???","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"No. This uses a disc with about a 1 inch hole in the center.
