The media could not be loaded. I’m am a SCUBA diver and use my boat mainly for that purpose. I anchor whenever I use the boat in 60-90 feet of water. I finally got the windlass. This product is fantastic. It is well built, works with rope and chain. It’s fast and smooth. The installation was easy. It has a free fall feature which allows the anchor to free fall on the down mode. For precision anchoring this is the best. When you put it into down mode it pays out the anchor road for several revolutions then goes into free fall mode. When you go to up mode it takes a few revolutions the clutch tightens and it brings in the anchor.I added a wireless remote so that I can be on the bow and watch the anchor come in.Totally recommend this product !!!I am a licensed captain and marine chief engineer with over 50 yrs experience.

Lewmar quick drop 1000-fish pro
This is a top of the line windless. Boys they don’t make them better than this. Get the pro- fish for the quick drop function. When you see the fish hit the button and the anchor in on the bottom.Great product. Straight forward mounting.

I really like the windlass and wish I could write a positive review, unfortunately it was incorrectly advertised as being sized for 1/4" chain. I initially tested on out of the water and it appeared to work OK. Today I had a chance to test on the water and it jammed. I inspected the gypsy and it turns out it is sized for 5/16" chain. Looks like I am going to have to replace the $800 of chain and rode I already purchased to make this work.

So far so good, works great
Saw some negative reviews for this windlass. I replaced my old Lewmar/Simpson Horizon freefall with this windlass and had to redrill one hole (for power wires) and all other holes lined up nicely. I thought I had to have freefall since my old windlass had it but I started using this one in locked mode and find it better/easier to control. I might switch to freefall if I go offshore and anchor in 100+ ft but for inshore locked mode is my preferred. Time will tell if it lasts but I see no reason yet that it wont.

Good windlass
Replaced my old model with the fish pro 1000 like that it can free drop my anchor which makes it quick and easy to anchor exactly where I need to be
