No. This dispenses a stronger variant of Post-It-Note adhesive. I use it to post shooting range targets onto a cardboard backing. Since the adhesive is not permanent, I can pull a used target off and stick a new one on. What you are looking for is clear 3M packaging tape which is quite good. There are a variety of dispenser options, including a 3M tape gun. If instead you want to paste down the flaps of a cardboard box for shipping, use a hot glue gun.

do you need the adapter or can you fit 1/4" tape in the gun as is? if you do need the adapter how hard is it to get it in & out? thanks!

I only use the 1/2 inch tape so I don't know. Sorry!
