How wide is the webbing/straps?

I don't have it handy right now but they are about 1-1 1\2 inches .It is fairly comfortable but you can always add some pads for the shoulder area. Duct tape and small piece of sleep pad would fix you right up.old school cool.

Well this hold SKS stripper clips?

Yes sks ammo on strippers would fit but,that's not what it's made for. This rig is for FN FAL and G3 mags. You would be better served looking for Chinese SKS chest pouch. Probably cheaper too.

Will it fit smoke grenades or just frag ?

It will not fit military beer can smoke and snap closed.
