A little extra reassurance
Whilst I always take care when whittling, there's always a risk of an accidental slip or cut so these gloves offer an extra layer of protection which helps me feel reassured that if I were to accidentally slip with a knife (despite my best efforts), I have an extra level of protection to protect my hands.I am hoping that they never get put to the test in any real way, but I know Beavercraft and trust their products, so am happy to put my faith in these gloves when wood carving and whittling small pieces of wood. The sizing is based on men's hands, so if you usually order gloves based on women's sizing, I would suggest ordering a size down to give a closer fit and better tactile sensations through the gloves whilst working.

Very good quality gloves - weren't ideal for food prep though
After having had quite a few incidents in the kitchen when using sharp knives to chop food, these gloves were a good choice to try out. They have the appearance of chain mail, however the material is a fabric. I tested the cut resistance with the knife that I use regularly in the kitchen. Where they don't protect from stabs/pricks, the cutting edge of the blade does slide off the material very well. Admittedly these were quite lightweight 'cuts', however the material was effective at resisting the blades. I am not sure how well they would hold up under stronger strikes/cuts.With regards to comfort, the knife I use for food prep has a smooth handle, so the material of the gloves means I couldn't get a sure grip. This did make the whole process more risky than having bare hands, as there was always a chance that the knife would slip. And as I used these for food prep, it will be necessary to wash them after each use for hygiene purposes. For food prep, these are decent, but not ideal. They are more suitable for occasions such as gardening, or handling sharp items, such as metal etc. They are very good quality, well made and well presented.

Truly fabulous gloves.
I haven’t used these gloves yet with the BeaverCraft knives I have but I have used them to carry damaged windows made up of many broken and sharp-edged glass panels. There was no worry on my part that the gloves wouldn’t withstand those sharp pieces of glass. Even when the gloves got caught on pieces of wood that stuck out from the side of the frames, I had expected them to tear as it felt like they’d stuck fast even when I pulled hard to get it off, but there was no damage at all! Very, very impressed. The material is soft and the medium size feels true to size for my hubby. A bit on the loose side for me. Bear in mind what you need them for – intricate work may need a closer fit.The information enclosed in the pack does state that while they offer cut protection, they’re not entirely cut-proof. Use with necessary safety precautions and wash as per instructions.

Not what I thought
Taking them out of the bag they looked really small in size but the fit was just right. Well made and soft to the touch. Protection seem good but they feel thin. There isn’t any grip on the glove and thats where the problems started for me. They are slippy and difficult to use with the glossy Flexcut knifes but good with the pro range. They are missing some sort of grip in the palm but hopefully Beavercraft will address this soon.

Good
I've been wearing these when getting wood from my wood pile to avoid getting caught on anything and so far it's been working well. I've not tried them on anything sharp deliberately but I normally manage to hurt myself some how when retrieving wood in the dark and I haven't with these!

cut resistant gloves
These gloves are great. I needed something to help prevent me from accidental cuts whilst crafting. I use a lot of cutting blades and often nick myself and so far these have worked a treat. They are super light weight and comfortable to wear. I would recommend these

Not Cut Proof
They are NOT cut proof and a sharp knive has cut straight through my glove, like a hot knive through butter.
