You pick your configuration.
Having used clear protectors before, I chose one again for the LG V30. Given the delicate nature of the glass case back of the phone I am appreciating the two-part clear protector. I guess one could chose just to use the flexible bumper around the phone and leave the rest of the phone in its "natural" state. I chose to snap on the backing as well, in the hope that it will protect the back of the phone.There were no instructions with the case, so I am not sure if there is a protective film to be removed from the inside of the back cover, as I have seen with previous cases. The cover does add weight to the light-weight phone and the bumper gives you a good non-skid grip. This prevents the slinky phone from sliding out of the hand.
