Best Christmas Purchase of 2024
I was inspired at a recent party after seeing the music was coming from a small speaker, something that I had disregarded as a real option for playing high quality sounding music in the home. This is because the cheap items I had experienced in the past never really impressed me but the market has massively moved on in recent years, with lots of quality brands making mini speakers for a range of uses and prices that had pretty much passed me by.I started by looking at the Bose SoundLink, the brand I had seen at the party, which was quite expensive. However, looking at the reviews online of many similar products, it became clear that I didn't need to spend anything like as much and still get something just as good. There is a big difference in price, especially with some of the classic branded items, which all have great sound but are not night and day different or necessarily better than cheaper products. In fact, they sometimes lack the rich functionality and innovative thinking available from newer brands. The Tribit, for example, seems to hold its own against similar products three times the price. I had never even heard of the brand Tribit until I started researching but quickly focused in on the Stormbox 2 as a shortlist option. Before that I was very tempted by the Beats Pill, which seems to provide better quality sound than more expensive brands. In fact, I was about to purchase one but then realised the Stormobox 2 was half the price and for the same money as one Pill I could buy two Stormbox 2 units, link them and play them in stereo. No single speaker in the same product category is likely to outperform a stereo setup - you would have to spend considerably more money, and perhaps buy something from the next product category up.The speakers arrived within 24 hours, just in time for New Years Eve, and took me less than 5 minutes to unbox and setup. The sound and clarity is great and the stereo setup works really well. I listened to a single speaker first before linking the other, and this showed the improvement in sound when in stereo mode. This is a very cost effective and convenient alternative to having a full stereo setup with proper standalone stereo speakers, which no doubt will always be superior but takes up lots of space. Two of these Tribit mini speakers gives you more than enough stereo quality sound with decent bass in any room of the house. You can even take them outside, which I haven't done yet.If you want outright volume and deep bass, you may need to spend more for something with a higher output but I have these in my kitchen and they easily fill the entire downstairs of the house. The build is very good quality and they appear strong and sturdy. I would have no reason to fear taking them outside or even being a bit heavy handed as they feel rugged. They came with 70% charge and I was able to play them all day long, late into the night and through the next day before the batteries went low and they needed their first charge.I downloaded the app to my phone when unboxing and before switching the first device on and have been impressed with how easy it is to use. The app may not be super advanced or win any awards but it does what it needs to do and I like that I am able to use its functions without logging in with an account - it just works as soon as you install it. I also like that you can have two smart phones linked to one speaker at the same time, so I can allow my son to use them too.All in all, this one impulse purchase has probably turned out to be the best of the holiday period. I took a bit of chance buying two at the same time, instead of trying one first and then maybe buying the second later if I liked it. However, I'm glad I took the plunge and just went all in, because they are really that good and I have zero reason to believe I made the wrong purchase or could have got something better for the money. No doubt someone will correct me on this in due course :-) all feedback welcome. They look great in the kitchen while remaining subtle and requiring hardly any space.I purchased two because they were on a deal, which made them a bit cheaper than the normal price. This meant buying two exactly matched the price of a single Beats Pill. That was my justification for getting two at the same time - man maths always wins :-) Filling the kitchen with music while I cook is a privilege that never gets old and is so easy to do now with decent quality but without bulky equipment. Tribit really has nailed it with this product in my opinion. For a brand I wasn't even aware existed before researching the product category online, I must salute and thank Tribit for your excellent work.

First class !
Brilliant .. looks and feels like a real quality product and really is .. great sound, really good battery life and faultless connection. I chose the Stormbox 2 after reading numerous reviews, making lengthy comparisons with other speakers around the same price, and slightly more expensive, and I'm glad I did .. excellent all round performance for the price and the XBass is a real winner.

Excellent sound for the size
This speaker provides really nice sound for the size, and unlike some other similar speakers, it outputs in stereo. The stereo separation is pretty good. The sound stage overall seems much better if you stand the speaker on it's end rather than on its side. If you have it in front of you with the button facing the front, the stereo separation is surprisingly good.I did some research on this Tribit speaker and it seemed to get decent reviews, so took the plunge. It is easy to connect via bluetooth. I've not strayed far from the signal, but being bluetooth 5.3, it should work a fair way away.I'm not an audiophile at all, but I can't listen to bad quality speakers / headphones. This has a nice warm base (I do suggest keeping the bass boost on) and reasonably bright treble. The only time I've found it wanting is for heavy rock music with a lot of different sounds blasting at once. Like so many portable (and cheap other) speakers, the sound gets a little bit muffled as it can't handle the separation of all the elements.Don't get me wrong, it is still very good, but I'll probably tend listen to my metal on headphones or my better speaker systems.I've only had it a week so far and it may settle in more over time.I've also been using it with my PC for music and games and although though there is a delay via bluetooth, I've not had an issue with it. I've not used the aux socket yet.The battery is still on the original charge and it must have lasted 10+ hours thus far. Some people complain that it doesnt indicate the battery left. However, it apparently does give a visible warning when the battery has less than 10%, but I've not seen it yet. My PC was reporting the battery life though. You can skip back and forward by double clicking on the large buttons as well as receive calls (there is a built-in mic), although I've not tested this function.I've not used the phone app yet as I've not really felt the need to play with the sound settings. The material around the unit feels surprisingly fragile against my expectations, it is fabric rather than rubber based. This does give a nicer feel though. The UE Boom I have has a far more solid / robust feel. My concern is that this material will damage over time, it seems to pick up dirt quite easily. I will have to watch this. (By the way, the sound quality doesn't match the UE speaker, you wouldn't expect that for the price difference, but it is not leagues behind). The Tribit does go pretty loud and doesn't distort until right at the top end of its volume).I have been let down by speakers with amazing reviews on here before, including a recent purchase of a shower speaker which had 4.5 stars average, many 5 star reviews, and was allegedly 1/3 the RRP (I paid £13). I took the plunge on the Tribit. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase of the Tribit speaker.

Decent but doesn't show battery
Overall a decent speaker, probably a bit expensive in my opinion. The main issue I have is that there is no way to monitor battery life - the on button is either white or red so you have no idea how long is left before it dies or before it's done charging...
