KONOSUBA - An Explosion on This Wonderful World! - The Complete Season

This was a gift for my niece. She has told me about this a few times, so I thought instead of watching it online, she can just watch it whenever she wants. She loves this. The characters and the storyline are huge for her. She never fails to laugh or smile when watching it. I have watched it with her, and it is pretty good. It is for a little more mature kid, but it's fine for anyone really.

This is a wonderful series that plays along with the main story. Being a prequel to the original story that gives Megumin the spotlight and fleshing out of her character some more. I like how she originally got the idea for the eye patch. And what happens at the end...

I'll start right out and say that this was nowhere near as enjoyable as the main series. That being said this is just a spin off of the series so I guess you can't really expect it to be as good, however I did expect better to be honest. Megumin is a great character but it's just not the same without Kazuma and the rest of the gang around her.Without spoilers.... First half of the series up to episode 6 took place in Megumins home village as well as her school. Other than some story elements and a few funny parts here and there I felt it this half was mostly forgettable. Episode 7 and 8 is where she moves on to the next city and where I felt it started getting better with the church that worships Aqua.Then finally episode 9 through 12 takes place in the city where in the main Konosuba series she eventually meets up with Kazuma and the others. So these episodes were extra enjoyable since you get to see what was going on with Megumin during the time Kazuma and Aqua were starting out. You actually hear and sometimes get glimpses of them (they never outright show their faces) as well as a few other characters in quite a few of these scenes.Overall I thought it was enjoyable, but at the same time disappointing. It really didn't scratch that Konosuba itch while waiting for season 3. Maybe some of this will tie into season 3 potentially making this more of a interesting watch in the end.As far as packaging and features. Packaging wise it does come with a slipcover which is what you see pictured on store page. The cover art inside is different and has yunyun and Megumin. Then there is even better art on the inside as well which is truly reversible as it has a spine with the Konosuba title. Features wise other than some promo videos, there is just the usual clean opening and closing videos.

I enjoy Konosuba, but the fan service elements always bring it down for me. This has the same comedy elements of Konosuba without the uncomfortable parts. The characters are all great, and it tells a complete story. It is hard to find single season animes with proper endings. Animation quality is also top notch.
