Rather expensive but a potentially good investment for grated cheese lovers
It makes grated cheese with so little effort and no mess for cleaning up afterwards, I just love it.It can be setup for left- or right-handed operation. But it can be tricky to operate to some as on one hand you need to hold, press cheese down to the grater cylinder and hold the position of the grater opening to where you want the grated cheese to go. You then use the other hand to turn the grater cylinder handle to produce grated cheese. Skilful hands would definitely help or may be a few practices. The press handle can be tricky to clean as cheese can stick here and there in the chamber where it takes cheese in but you’ll be fine with a small brush/toothbrush; the grater cylinder isn’t anymore difficult to clean than regular graters, I hold the two ends of it with my fingers and brush it with soapy water. If you plan to wash it in a dishwasher, read the instructions before you do so as the grater cylinder can damage coating of a dishwasher tray. I don’t wash it after one use but put it in a bowl or something like that and leave it in the fridge if I would use it the following day.Thought it make it easy to get small amount of grated cheese without making a mess. Without it I tend to grate entire piece of hard cheese, save the grated cheese in a shaker bottle that I don’t know how soon I could finish and leave a bit of a mess to clean up afterwards. I could now cut a small piece of hard cheese and leave the rest fresh for grating next time I need.I do think this is a good investment to me but do require skilful hands or a few practices for the intended purpose.

Robust
This is the third style we have had in three months. It is sturdy and grates well, but cheese gets stuck in the grater and not all of it is grated. A bit fiddly to clean inside the grater. But having said that, I think it’s the best I have used. I just hope someone can come up with a better product.

works OK
clean, use and sturdiness all 4* so why a 3* overall. This replaced the old grater that broke after several years of service. This new one is fine for all the categories above but the end result is cheese that is like sawdust. Its much too fine in my opinion. At this price we won't simply throw it out, but it is not really what we wanted. Unfortunately you can't see this in the advert so be warned.

Totally delighted with this grater !
An excellent grater, feels very robust and much more expensive than it was… it’s easy and ergonomic to use, grates cheese and chocolate very well. Comes apart for easy cleaning… really there is nothing not to like

No good for cheese
I have purchased several Zyliss products over the years and they are usually good.I had a Moulis grater years ago and it was excellent at grating cheese.Sadly this one is no good for cheese at all and I wanted a grater predominantly for grating cheese.I assumed it would be ideal from the description. The cheese gets lodged in the grater and in the drum so I have to get a knife inside the drum to scrape cheese out and unclog the drum. I made more mess than using my box grater and wasted time unclogging the drum.Sadly I assumed, as it was a Zyliss, that it would work fine and put the box into the recycling before checking its operation outReally disappointed and £16.00 poorer with nothing to show for it.Although it has a 5 year guarantee I can't return it minus the box so £16 down the drain with this oneReally disappointed in a Zyliss product.

Far Too Fine
I bought this because I had one many , many years ago, and remembered how useful it was. I grate bulk cheese in my food processor, but this is really good for small quantities. However it only comes with one grating drum, and it seems there are no others available. The grater is very, very fine indeed, so it takes a lot of pressure to get the cheese through it (and I have very weak strength in my hands). It took ages to grate a piece of cheddar about 2" x 1". Also, because the output cheese is so fine it clogs the drum, which needs to be picked out with a knife, but still leaves residue cheese (wasted) stuck in the ridges in the drum and grater itself. At least I can put it in the dishwasher to clean thoroughly, but it's still a waste of cheese, which isn't cheap these days. If it was hand wash only it would be in the bin by now, and I suspect it will be eventually as I find it very frustrating to use.

So far so good
Got this for my mum’s stocking. So far it was well received and we’ve used it several times already. Make grating Parmesan a breeze

Makes grating cheeses easy and fast
Bought it mainly to grate parmesan cheese but quickly realised you can grate most hard cheeses in half the time it takes on a conventional grater and it's safer than grating your knuckles. It easily dismantles and can be put in a dishwasher. Cleaning sometimes leaves tiny traces of cheese so check it before you put it back in the drawer.

The best
Got my first Zyliss 30 years ago. When I replaced it I grabbed the first thing I found. That was a mistake. Relegated that to the junk drawer and got myself another Zyliss. Definitely the best out there.

Game changer but not easy to clean
Grating Parmesan have never been easier. Just cut pieces that fit and it takes no time to grate.Clean is a but if a hassle but its to be expected. Using a brush to clean is best as cheese bits get lodged and stuck in the crevasses.

Praktisch
