Excellent camera
I like these cameras so much that I have now bought 4 in total: 3 outdoor and 1 indoor. It's great being able to access them from anywhere using my iPhone and this was an important feature for me. The customer service is excellent: when I had a problem with my first camera (invalid UID, so I couldn't access it when away from home), I received a replacement from EyeSpy247 the next day - can't get much better than that and it gave me the confidence to buy more. The setup process was very simple, but I use mine with Devolo DLAN plugs, rather than rely on wireless. Using these, I get real time speed and it really is just a case of plugging the cameras in, although when you mount them, you have to drill a hole large enough to take an ethernet lead, as well as the power cable - it's worth it, though, as I don't need to worry about the distance to the router or having walls blocking a wireless signal. I would describe the night vision as adequate, although it drops off in quality with distance, as you would expect. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Easy to setup, easy to use, fairly good image
This camera produces one of the best quality images you can get from any network camera without spending 300+ GBP.The setup is extremely simple. Plug the power cable in and connect the camera to your router using the supplied ethernet cable. Next download the ucam247 app for your iphone/ipad/android device and it will automatically find and setup the camera and allow you to select your wifi network. The camera can be permanently connected via ethernet to your router or make use of the wireless feature. The build quality of the camera and mount are extremely impressive. The camera features a solid metal enclosure and the mount is also metal with a swivel base. Included is a cowl sun/rain shade which is somewhat adjustable in position. Screws and wall plugs are provided to put the mount onto a wall. The camera is fully weather proofed and can be mounted inside or outside. If mounting indoors, be aware that pointing it out a window will cause issues at night as the infrared LEDs will reflect off the window and blind the camera or simply provide no real night vision capacity. Via the web interface, you can disable these IR LEDs and rely on external lighting that you may have instead.I chose to paint my camera black and mount it outside. It draws far less attention to itself this way.You can install a microsd card into the camera by unscrewing the front piece where the camera lens is. This will allow you to use the motion detection features to store pictures and video captures. You can enable auto-rewrite which means older files will be removed to make space for new ones. The camera also supports FTP/HTTP upload although I found the HTTP upload doesn't actually work. I managed to get a shell on the camera and determined this is a problem with the firmware. The FTP upload works but deletes the local copy of the file from the device. It would be better if it kept the file on the microsd card as well as uploading. That way you have two copies of the data. I wanted to use FTP as an offsite backup and then watch recordings locally but it's just not possible. The camera can also email pictures when motion is detected but rather than sending many pictures in a single email, it sends many emails one after another. The motion detection is very easy to setup but the hard bit is adjusting the settings to get it to only record motion you want. I found it pretty much impossible to get the balance right. The camera has multiple streams available such as h264, mjpeg4, mjpeg, audio, m3u8, ASF, JPEF. You can watch the streams on any iOS or android device as well as more traditional desktop and laptop computers through the web browser. The streams can also be opened in generic mobile apps, VLC player and pretty much any other software that can play a video stream.I ran into a few minor niggles with the camera and found ucam247 support to be excellent. They were very quick at replying to emails and seemed pretty technically capable. Although I think they have heavy input on firmware changes, I don't think they actually code it themselves.I found a way through the web interface to get a full shell on this camera and get into the guts of it. It works and then doesn't work
It arrived fairly quickly and set up was really easy, I fitted it to the top of my house, fed it via the 12volt lead, and it worked perfectly on wi-fi until the power went off. Then it started to play up and kept on displaying "off line, cannot find camera" so I installed an Ethernet cable so that it was not on full wi-fi. That seemed to do the trick until my wi-fi went off and it started displaying the same message again; "off line". It is now really starting to take the p. I switched it off at the mains and it came back on line, worked perfectly until 9 01-26am on the 01/02/14 and stopped recording (it can't be the sd card as it's only just been cleaned), it shows live but does not record and I have checked on line for fault finding Q&A and tried to get hold of a land line No for ucam247 but to no avail. Would I recommend this product I have to be honest and say No; it sets up easy but back up from the company leaves a lot to be desired I've given it a good trial and payed out more money than I should have so I'll be talking to Amazon about how to return the Camera.

Well made, easy to install, some practical shortcomings to be aware of.
On the plus side, it's easy to set up and the apps which get you round having to worry about port forwarding and other technobabble are pretty good, though a bit clumsy. It's well made and solid. The motion detection is good, maybe too good, and the image quality is pretty reasonable. Got a lovely pic the other morning of a pigeon flying splat! into my lounge window. But beware spiders........ they seem to love making cobwebs over the lens and IR lights. Cobwebs twitch in the breeze, and there's another 300 emails in your mailbox in the morning. I've turned down the sensitivity and threshold to almost the minimum and it's still an issue - but it doesn't take much to delete them as you check.I installed mine using a waterproof cable box on the wall next to the camera to hold the flying leads which this camera is cursed with. The leads are waterproof, but the idea of leaving them dangling was a no-no so for aesthetic reason, the boxes were used. Much neater.

Simple to set up and easy to use
I would recommend this IP camera to everyone who requires a visual wireless security device. Setup is straight forward and camera can operate on mains transformer provided or with a small 12v solar panel with battery backup for overnight use. This would of course require a voltage stabiliser. The cables for initial setup can be stored in a small junction box either alongside the camera, or screw the camera to the lid, given that the junction box is made of metal. The only cable that is needed to be passed through the wall is the power line, if using mains voltage. The really fantastic advantage of this camera is that it can be monitored anywhere, by anybody with the setup code on an iPad, laptop, desktop etc.
