Chester the Chimpanzee Hardcover – August 14, 2012

I recently read this book to my fourth grade class. They loved the pictures and wanted to see each one up close. Kudos to the illustrator! My students enjoyed the story and the range of emotions the author was able to portray for the main characters. The way Chester is cared for by his human sister and friend is touching and real. I want copies for every child I know and most adults. I think this would be a great book to have in any classroom or a doctor's waiting area. Les Nuckolls wrote a delightful and fun story.

Suitable as holiday gift for young children, and it's a true story. Something a little out of the ordinary children's books.

I absolutely loved this delightful book about a family who raised a chimpanzee while living in Africa. The little girl, who treated Chester like a younger sibling, was so precious and the reader could feel the great bond they shared. Both the author and the talented illustrator made this story come alive with the virbrant pictures and details that spun a very compassionate and heartwarming story. I'd highly recommend this book to children of all ages~and us adults too!
