The box was nice and sturdy. The workmanship was done well. You have to sand it down a bit, but only because of the type of wood it is. It's a lower grade wood and that is expected. Once sanded down and stained, it came out beautiful. It was a very nice purchase.

I’m a sucker for a good box. I use things like this to store items for convention games and games with my local group. As well as general storage.When I opened the box I was hit with a beautiful pine smell. These are absolutely made of good quality pine. Seams are nice and even. Basic wood work quality is fantastic. The wood is thick as well. These should last quite a while.The hinges and locks are metal and also good quality. The locks actually lock and hold the boxes closed. The hinges are solid and in there tight. The lid opens and closes smoothly and the seams are tight.I have yet to put any stain on these but just from the feel, a basic light sanding should be the only prep work needed. I imagine I could just skip that a well for a nice ’rustic’ look and feel. I’m planning on making one of these a travel case and one for storing things at home. May try one of both!While the current price of @$33 might seem high, these are MUCH better quality than boxes I’ve seen for the same cost in my local arts and craft stores.

I do like these boxes. They are well-made with tight flush corners and a smooth finish. The wood also has a very nice grain pattern, enhancing its appearance. I stained mine an antiqued blue (see photos), and I think they look very nice. However, that staining also revealed some sloppy workmanship. In some places along the seams, all the glue was not properly wiped clean, so the stain can’t adhere to the dried glue (see close-up photo). This is most noticeable on the insides of the boxes – so it’s somewhat less of an issue, but still a disappointment. If you want a clean finish, you will be need to first sand off any dried glue.

These aren't cheap to purchase, but it really is a quality product and not a flimsy cigar box-like item at all. I was really impressed with the quality of these two boxes. The wood is thick enough that there is no bend to the lid, the bottom, or the sides. The smell of pine is wonderful!I plan on turning them into storage for keepsakes or the like. They are quite sturdy and ready for decoration including painting or staining. They were well sanded so it's unlikely that they will need any kind of prep work before staining or painting. The clasp and hinges appear to be sturdy as well.

These boxes are nice quality and take stain well. I made them match the rest of my decor and they now hold some trinkets. Great storage boxes.

This is a set of 2 matching wooden boxes. The boxes measure 12”x9”x3” and are made of pine. They have metal latches on the front and metal hinges on the back. The latches on the front are a little stiff initially but will loosen up with use.I am super happy with the quality of these boxes. They are well made and sturdy with no chips or cracks. I plan to trace different designs on these and paint them by hand! I will definitely recommend these and probably buy more for Christmas gifts!

These boxes are AMAZING. I’ve gone to craft stores and looked at their wooden items for painting and been left disappointed - hinges that don’t work, clasps that are crooked, splinters galore. These boxes have none of that.The edges are smooth. The hinges and clasp are even and work smoothly. It is 100% ready to go so you can go in and paint or finish it right away, no prep work needed. I’m excited to decorate these. They are also a really good size. You could store papers in there or other small treasures.

Two things stuck out about these boxes immediately:1) The hinges and clasps. Not your usual junk that's all bent up brass things that cause the lid to wobble all over the place. I could wish for a closer match in style, but as is I'm ok with them2) Sturdiness. The thickness of the material good. The top and bottom are not flimsy 1-2mm (<1/8") thick sheets. Instead, 6mm (1/4") stuff which doesn't bend and flex easily.Pre-made boxes like these are great for various stuff, such as laser engraving. That's where these particularly boxes are not a 100% awesome choice. The wood patterns result in uneven engraving, as the differing colors are also different density material. Still usable, for sure, but not ideal.
