304 Stainless Steel Sheets, 8" x 4" x 0.04" Inch Stainless Steel PlatesThese plates of stainless steel are fairly STIFF and not easily bendable without the proper tools. I used a metal bending brake tool for the 90 degree elbow shown in the photo; and even with that tool, it took some effort. Holes were drilled for the stainless attaching screws using a drill press and standard HSS drill bit. (The very bottom of that vinyl fence post was being gouged by a gate wheel scraping against it. This plate protects that area.) These pieces are harder than cold steel, but not as hard as some stainless products. The pieces I received are 1/16" less (each way) than 4" x 8". A protected film protects each side during shipping and handling. Try to buy these in the exact size needed as cutting this material is not easy.

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this with the intention of attaching magnetized tools to it after mounting it on the wall. Having tested it with N52 magnets, they do not stick to it.As a result I am not sure what I am going to do with the product since it doesn't suit my needs.

The product comes well packaged and cared for and is of solid quality itself, however, the seller has failed to note that this appears to be austenitic stainless steel. So, if your intention is to use it for any sort of magnetic application, it will not suffice.

One of the things I like to do with steel is color marking (annealing) with my lasers. Picking out steel can be hit and miss, as the low quality stuff is all over the map for composition, so one peice to the next is totally different. For average Joe, this probably doesn't matter, but got color marking, it throws everything out.This is stuff was pretty solid. Once I found the settings to get a nice color range, I was able to reuse those settings all over both peices without a problem. I've added these to my favorites for when I need steel in this size.For reference, the unicorn is about 2" high and wide, the laser used is a little 2W IR.

I purchased these to use with magnets, but the magnets barely cling and slide off. Must be mixed with a non-magnetic alloy? Did not serve my purposes.

These stainless plates are fairly soft and non-rigid which should make cutting, drilling and filing easy. The plates can be deformed by hand. They have a standard mill finish. I was hoping for something with a springier temper but it was not specified in the description.
