Great Recovery drink! Plant based version
Update 29/01/2025.Since High5 changed the formula of the normal version, I've steered clear. But I tried the plant based version and its almost like thr original.I always use High5 nutrition, you literally can't go wrong and its wallet friendly. This recovery drink mixes well and tastes ok. It's not as good as the chocolate flavour, but still very nice with skimmed milk. I like the fact there are no sweeteners, you try and find another protein shake that doesn't use them!

WARNING: They have ruined this great product 🙁
I, like a lot of others it would seem, have used high 5 recovery drink for a few years. I had it set up as an Amazon subscription.I always used Berry flavour in the summer and Chocolate in the winter and I genuinely used to look forward to my drink (made with skimmed milk) after my run.The most recent tub however is disgusting. Like some other reviewers, I initially thought it must be off. The colour of the dry powder was different (a sort of dirty beige, rather than the former bright pink), the consistency was much thicker and 'foamier' than before and the flavour has gone from being light, fruity and natural tasting, to thick, not so fruity and with a horrible powdery chemically aftertaste, that lingers at the back of my mouth.I emailed High 5 with the lot number, assuming I must have got a bad tub.To my astonishment, they pointed out this is actually a new and improved formulation! It absolutely is new, but it most certainly is NOT an improvement!Unfortunately, whether by (very) misguided design, or for purely cost-cutting reasons, High 5 have completely ruined this once great product. They have lost a customer and Amazon has lost a subscription purchaser. If you've used and liked this before, I'd definitely recommend proceeding with caution with your next purchase.I'd also be extremely interested to hear from a y long-standing users of this drink, who a actually prefer the new version.

They're tasty more than anything else
I really like the High 5 Recovery drinks. I've had all three: Berry, Banana & Vanilla and Chocolate and tried them all with water and milk.Chocolate is by far the best, especially with milk and I usually spend the last few km of my run looking forward to having it at the end. It's surprisingly nice with water too. The Berry one feels more natural and thirst quenching with water and when you have it with milk, it tastes for me more like an ice cream.Banana & Vanilla is probably my least favourite. It's an odd taste with water but still nice enough. You'd think with the banana, it would really work with milk but it's just not on the level of chocolate.I wouldn't go as far as to say they've made a difference to my recovery but they do help me get through the last couple of km as I always look forward to having one when I've finished. A tip is to make one up and then put it in the fridge ready for when you've finished your run.

Works Well
I switched to High5 from Science In Sport when the price of the later got a bit too steep. This product works just as well, is easy on my stomach but the usual side effects of protein are evident. Certainly tastes alright.

Quite sweet, but the flavor is good and it doesn't even seem vegetable
Excessively sweet to drink straight, but if you mix it with plenty of water and a little of another Whey, which is less sweet with a different flavor, it's also good when mixed with fruits like strawberries, it's wonderful.

New flavour very dissapointing
Since I last had this a few years ago they've changed the flavouring and what was once a nice tasting drink now tastes like blended up cardboard. I actually find it hard to drink now and will look for an alternative next time

My go-to for after longer runs to recover
I think this shake is great after strenuous exercise. Its not like I feel amazing but I certainly dont feel awful which I think in itself speaks volumes. I was also delighted to see there was a vegan version as I changed to a vegan diet in the month prior to my race (detoxing or something like that).I really don't see why people are slating the flavour, to me it tastes fine as a after-workout drink. The non-vegan formula does taste creamier and nicer (tried it as a sample sachet from a running kit from high-5 orginally) Would recommend.
