Karl Glaser tenor saxophone, in black/gold with case

... and a delight to play. I have always wanted to play the tenor, but I was told that it was too difficult for a beginner, so I purchased an alto. I have been playing the alto now (off an on!) for a few years so I thought I would try a tenor. I am so pleased with this purchase. It looks , feels and sounds great. Based on some other reviews I did purchase a Yamaha mouthpiece, but I tried the original mouthpiece and found that to be quite satisfactory for my level

HiOpening the case I found the instrument well protected in a net bag , having removed this I noticed the transportation corks scattered in the bottom of the case , not a good start !! A good visual inspection prooved all seemingly ok . I put a reed in the mouthpiece and attached the mouthpiece to the neck and connected the neck to the instrument . It didnt tighten sufficiently to seal . The instrument would not play all notes So I set about putting it right . After reducing the neck aperture ( very carefully) with some mole grips .It now seals perfectly when tightened. I bought a yamaha 4c mouthpiece ,as the one provided was virtually useless, and buying some new reeds as the ones supplied were split . I also had to alter a few screws on the G# pad as they were not holding the pad down sufficiently to seal . Having played it for a while it is bedding in and sounding /functioning suitably, I believe it will improve as the pads bed in.So ........ not perfect . I would definately not have expected to have to carry out these alterations, but , at the price it is undoubtedly a bargain for beginners /students . Time will tell .

It is hard to fault it for the price. It looks really good, sounds fairely good too. It did came with a problem, a screw that was not correctly in place, fixed it easily after checking with seller that was the correct assessment (they responded quickly and were really trying to help). The neck strap is not confortable, you may want to buy a better one. But overall this is a good value for money, it comes with a nice case... I am happy so far.
