I've damaged the 6 cup container and can't find anywhere that has it (braun site included) anyone sell the 6 cup container only?

No but I have successfully used wide mouth mason jars. They have 24oz markings on one side 800ml on the other. I prefer it over the container it came with because I just pop a lid on & store the contents.

Any tips for using the potato masher attachment?

The little grey fin has a lock/unlock diagram on the bottom so you can spin it around for cleaning. It is the loudest attachment.
