Well worth the money! Two Jeeps and a Honda (Warning - VERY wordy review ahead)
Like many of you, I rarely leave reviews. This product, however, warrants it. Whether you use it on one or multiple vehicles, it will still pay for itself quickly. The bottom line: It is well worth the money and has many uses if you are DIY oriented. It will save you hundreds of $$$ immediately.Recently I had to tow one Jeep (TJ) on an auto transport with our other Jeep (08 XK) as the tow vehicle for a trip into the mountains. The tow vehicle began exhibiting drive train issues about two weeks before the trip and began displaying the "service 4wd" error on the VIC. I drove it as it was until my wife called me one morning saying the vehicle made a grinding noise from underneath and had no power.I tried all of the known methods to clear the code myself, as well as using another brand's BT reader to retrieve the code. The other brand's reader would only give me the base code relating to the PCM and nothing more. I cleared this code but it immediately came back. Off to the dealer I went. The dealer used the Snap-on version of the unit sold here to clear the codes. At this point we are two days away from the trip. That same night, I ordered the Autel unit and Amazon had it to me the next day. After the dealer cleared the PCM codes all was well. The XK had full power, 4LO and 4HI worked just fine. We left on our trip and the XK did just fine. I will mention that I never keyed off the ignition until we reached our final destination 600 miles away. The day after arrival I went to move the XK and it immediately threw the "service 4WD" VIC message once again. I hooked up the Autel unit, scanned for codes and cleared them, just as the dealer did. On the return trip there were no errors at all and, once again, I never keyed off the ignition until we were home.A few days later, my wife said the CEL was on so I scanned it once again with the Autel. Several codes were found, including the "service 4WD" error. I cleared all but the power train codes because, after multiple scans, I was seeing a pattern. The issue was with the transfer case shifter motor. I called the dealer to ask if this was covered under my (lifetime) powertrain warranty. To my surprise it was! This alone paid for the unit and then some as the dealer replaced not only the shifter motor, but the associated wiring harness as well.On to the next vehicle - we have a Honda Fit in the fleet that runs great. Several years ago, the second key to the vehicle was lost. The dealer wanted $250 for a new key and another $100 to program it. Here on Amazon I purchased two new key blanks with the immobilizer chip for $19. I took them to the dealership we bought the car from and they charged me $16 to cut both keys. Within 10 minutes after returning home, I had both new keys programmed to the car with the Autel unit. Amazing. The unit is very intuitive and the company pushes updates all the time. When you first setup the unit, you may have to wait a while for all the updates to finish. Take this time to charge the internal battery to 100% while you do something else. It is well worth the money and it saved a cross-country trip.

Price point was perfect for DIY mechanic
First of all, let me just start by saying I am not a mechanic. Anything I know about cars I learned myself that being said i’m always trying to save A few dollars by working on my own vehicles nowadays these vehicles have so much electronics in them and sensors that it’s beginning to be a little more difficult to diagnose issues. I decided to try the MK 808S first because of the price then after reading about its capabilities knowing I didn’t want some basic scanner that just reads codes and deletes them. To my surprise it was fairly simple to use the apps make life easy. The fact that I don’t know what a lot of the information is telling doesn’t even factor because it has help links when you’re stuck, internet access helps provide additional info and finally you can talk to an actual professional via text on the unit. Since I bought the MK 808s I’ve diagnosed and fixed a 2006 ford f150 , 2012 VW bug, 2000 Lexus 470, 2010 Chevy corvette and lastly 2021 Hyundai Sonata all with the help of this tool I know I did give a lot of technical mumbo jumbo but that’s only because there’s already plenty of reviews with that hope this help you make a decision I’m happy with the one I made

Effective and easy to use
Outstanding tool! The tech writer that created the instruction made it easy to learn how to use the MK 808 and identify the status of the vehicle.. I used it to evaluate a used car that I wanted to purchase and it enabled me, a nonprofessional, to test the vehicle. It identify problems, it explained the codes, suggest reasons for the failure indications, show corrective actions and showed web sites to find further information. I was able to purchase the vehicle with the MK808 test, a Carfax and a physical inspection, I felt sure that it had no mechanical issues. The MK808 also performs the emission test that is required to pass the required state inspection. The MK808 and additional cables that I purchased arrive quickly and in perfect condition. .I used it to test two other old vehicles that I own and it identified two problems that I was able to repair at a great savings. It has paid for itself.I most highly recommend it

Totally worth it.
It does pretty much everything that high end units do. It doesn’t do TPMS but for the price it has plenty of functionality to diagnose and calibrate several systems such as Steering angle, ABS bleeding and much much more. The best part is that the renewal price is a lot cheaper than the more expensive units every year and the purchase price is not a lot more than the very limited handheld units.I would definitely buy it again. I recommend Autel Products.
