Another eclectic selection, combining old favorites with an alluring assortment of leftfield gems.

A great final from the amazing Dave Godin series Deep soul treasures
David Godin should be Knighted for his contribution to the history of the genre Soul music as his life long devotion to the African American music that sadly never got its due during the time it was made. Having been bowled over by the 1st 2nd and 3rd volume of this essential set . Soul music may have been side lined in the amazingly prolific era of music, the sixties and the seventies, as the genre called soul ,was not driven by the same values as the popular music of that era. If the radio programers of that era were looking for music with a longer shelf life than pop they would have failed in their duty as this music is classic in that it does not rely on fashionable effects to convey ageless feelings. Any serious listener would not be let down by the musical and lyrical content of these songs delivered with the intensity usually found only in the best jazz/blues or dare I say- Opera. Do use an age old phrase ' the stuff that dreams are made of.

Some barrel scraping
Maybe half-great. I find that most Kent reissue comps start to lose the plot after volume 2. Still, if you're a hard core soul sobber collector, you could do worse.
