My daughter plays over 50’s hockey for West of England. The head guard is essential protective equipment and it fulfills the safety purpose for which it was designed.

I bought it for skiing because I don't like wearing a helmet. I find that helmets isolate you from the noise around you and you can't hear what's going on. Also, it's too heavy for my neck, I can't stand it. So the headband is perfect for me. Lightweight, I wear it over a merino hat and it holds very well. It doesn't protect the top of the head, but all the way around in case of a fall or if my head hits the ice. I'm very satisfied.

My daughter fractured her skull in a hockey accident last year and lost confidence as a result.She is a talented 1st Team Club player and top scorer.With this protection she is now top scorer again already this season and full of confidence.Thank you

For this style of head guard, this is a good product.It is fairly comfortable to wear and doesn't look too ridiculous!The design is good - it is well padded and will certainly protect the head to some extent.I can see that this product is going to probably protect from bruises, scratches and cuts. However, it isn't a complete protection or guarantee from the more serious incidents which produce head injuries. If something hits your head hard whilst wearing this - the head is still going to get a nasty knock and it could still cause significant damage.The other slight down side to the product is that my child refuses to wear it as apparently it is 'so uncool'.....

Great product if worn on it's own.I brought to wear under a bomber hat, didn't work... this isn't what it is intended for anyway.As the real use, perfect!

My son loves it. Comfortable. Wear it all the time when playing football and tennis. Protected his both Cochlear Implants and from the rain to keep them dry so he is able to hear things and communication with others. Would recommending to others.

This is a very well made and light fitting guard, with cushions everywhere that could come into contact with a football. There's been more focus recently on the potential dangers that heading a ball for years can have on you, but this isn't designed for that kind of fix. The cushioning is very dense, meaning that impacts are still felt nearly at full force, more as a dull thud instead of the sharp contact you experience without the guard. The guard will protect nicely against potential head clashes though, for both you and the other person involved.For those who are okay wearing it, I'd say it's a good thing, but these kind of things aren't the norm in football where they are in rugby, so it may take some persuading if you want your son or daughter to put it on for a school match.

We bought this to protect from head injury, as our whole family plays soccer. It fits well (make sure to order the right size, or order a couple sizes and return the one that doesn't fit), and after a while my daughter forgets she has it on. It also protects well all the way around -- we haven't had any issues since using it. It's also easy to chat with other parents and point out which one is your kid -- the one with the stylish headband -- ha!

I am an adult using this while ice skating. My head measures 21 1/2, and I bought a size 4. It fits, but it feels a bit tight. I am not sure if a 5 might slip off, though. I am not sure if it will stretch. I am not sure it the tightness will make it uncomfortable. I wish I had ordered both a 4 and a 5. The item seems well made and is fairly cushy, and about 1/2 inch thick. It says it is machine washable. I am an adult woman. Maybe if it is worn adjusted down a bit in the back, which is like the image in the description, it will be OK. I hope this helps someone. ***UPDATE!!!*** I used it twice and it is great. It feels like it is made from a firm memory foam and it is comfortable for me. The first day I thought it would be too tight, but it's not. You don't want this to be loose or it might not protect when needed. Good product. I have not fallen and hope not to, but I feel this product will cushion my head fairly well if necessary.

My 9-year old daughter started field hockey this year. At the beginner level it's really just a bunch of kids crowding around and looking down at the ball, so not unusual for kids to knock heads. I'm a pediatrician and a bit of a worry-wart in general, so probably more conscious than most about concussions and neurological development. There is a lot of concerning data, most notably that the risk of suicide in teenagers is significantly increased in kids who have had 2 concussions in the previous year.Virginia Tech has done an extensive set of tests and ratings for headgear. I went through all of their 4 and 5 star ratings and the Storelli was the best in terms of price, protection, and looks. A kid wearing this headband who takes a conk on the head is expected to be 84% less likely to get a concussion than a kid not wearing anything at all.It does have to stretch out a bit and the kid'll have to get used to it. I found the sizing off the website to be pretty accurate. After it stretches, it looks just like a bit of a bulky headband and is tough to notice especially if your kid has longer hair that just goes over it. All in all, very happy with the purchase and consider it well worth it to protect my daughter's brain.
