The pictures are wrong but the shifter is fantastic if you know what to expect.
bulletproof, value, quality. This shifter is great. Just know that you are not getting a shifter with a gear display. Not sure why the seller has not fixed that issue but if anyone looks at reviews there are enough reviews to make an informed purchasing decision.

Solid shifter
Bought this to do a 1x11 conversion on my 2018 giant. Paired it with the matching deore 11 spd clutched derailleur and installation was great. Shifts are quick and responsive and the build quality feels solid. My model came without the gear indicator but, I prefer that because it forces me to shift gears based on feeling and bike response rather than looking at a number.

Exactly the right part, but does it have the visual gear position display, or not?
Shimano uses the exact same SL-M5100 part number for the shifter with the visual gear position display, and without. This is of course not very helpful. It's not the vendors' fault either.As a result the listing is very unclear about whether the SL-M5100 shifter you are getting has the visual gear position display, or not. Some of the pictures show the display, others do not.I got one without the display - which is what I was hoping. Either option works fine - I just happen to think the display looks a bit goofy and never look at it anyways.It is a brand-new SL-M5100 shifter with cable, cable housing and some cable ends exactly as it should be.

Pictures showed one with a display; but that’s not what arrived. Works the same though, so three stars.

Did not last a month
It was easy to install but malfunctioned after a month of easy usage. The shifter return lever get stuck. Releasing the cable helps temporarily but the release lever stops working again soon. Even though the product has a warranty 1 yr. I wad not able to get exchange since it was not purchased through an authorized dealer.

I can't really feel a difference between this and my SLX shifter. If you are between, just get this.
