Does this item come apart for cleaning?

TableCraft item H5633 swings out for easy cleaning, however the entire unit does not disassemble.

Indoors, is it ok to keep salt, sugar, etc in the containers for long term storage with occasional use?

Well, they do not deal so I do not believe it is the best for long term storage, sugar would be a problem. Rimming stations are best when you clean them and put for ingredients all the time.

How stable is this and does it hold up over time?

Yes it's stable, I've had mine for over a year now. I love it.
