Just started reading this book for a planned summer ride ...
Just started reading this book for a planned summer ride along the northern part of the route. We went to a slide show by 2 riders and they said that using this book and with the detailed maps that you should also have, made the ride very straight forward. Many of the routes sign posted have been destroyed by gun owners and the distance to way points mentioned in the book were accurate. He also gives many pointers on equipment and supplies for beginners who are thinking of doing the route.

Good read, very informative
This book gives a good overview of what riding the great divide would be like. I enjoyed the historical information and the side trip options that were identified. I would recommend this book to someone anticipating doing this ride.

A Must Have for Great Divide Riders
I can't compare this edition to the older one, as I don't have that one. However, this edition is great (no pun intended)! I am very much looking forward to doing this route. The itinerary in the book seems very reasonable. The info is invaluable and quite complete. I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in doing the Great Divide. In fact, even if you are not interested, and you read this, you will want to do it!

and general interesting information about the Great Divide route
This is a very informative account of the directions, encounters, and general interesting information about the Great Divide route. We are parents of a bicycler that is traversing this trail at the present. We have been able to follow the route using the maps, get an idea of what he will be seeing, and learning interesting information. We highly recommend it from a parent's perspective.

Good guide
Good guide but a little out of date because the route had changed, though this was clearly disclosed ahead of purchase. Very satisfied.

Excellent detailed guide.
A brilliant and probably essential guide if you're planning to ride the divide. Lots of detail on the route and any towns, obstacles, etc you'll encounter. It probably goes without saying that you'll need to buy the maps as well. If you're just after a general book about the divide this wouldn't be the one to choose as unless you're actually planning to ride it you might find it a bit dry. That's not a criticism of the book. In the same vein you wouldn't buy a haynes manual to read about a car you were interested in.

Great Divide Mountainbike Route
A very inspiring account of perhaps cycling's greatest adventure. For the non Americans among us its just a pity it's not closer to home but the location is what makes the Great Divide so appealing. The mapping detail is excellent along with some great historical accounts. Iconic places like Fleecer Ridge, Flathead Valley, Warm River and Pie Town to name but a few, will for now have to remain in this cyclists imagination.
