Just what I was looking for - a gorgeous hand wound pocket watch
Just what I was looking for - a gorgeous hand wound pocket watch that is easy to read. Most watches I looked at were too difficult to read either due to the skeletonized design or just poor color choices for the face and hands. Not only can I quickly and easily read this one, but with the revealed section on the cover, I can get a quick glance at the face while still closed. Really like the weight, design and fell of the watch and chain is not a cheap one, but very solid.

Soooo nice for the price
I was afraid this would seem cheap at this price point but it’s VERY nice. Looks and feels way more expensive than it was. Bought this for my 8 year old nephew for his baptism and I think he’s going to feel very big and cool. This will not be the last time I buy this.

Nice Piece for the Price
Initial Review:This is a very beautiful piece. The case looks like gunmetal. The window and roman numerals on the front lets you see the time without even opening the case. So, a quick peek is easy. The windows on both sides to the moving parts is really neat. I like the gold and blue contrast. There are even a few jewels on the back side. The blue roman numerals on the black background is very masculine. However, they are very difficult to see due to the low contrast. The roman numerals stamped into the cover are actually easier to read. Also, the blue hands can be difficult to spot against a background that has both gold and blue in it.When opening the cover(s), you can certainly figure out what time it is within 3-7 seconds. You just have to let your eyes focus, find the clock hands, and then spot the roman numerals. With that said, I don't buy a pocket watch for the purpose of quickly finding the time. If I wanted that, I'd wear a wrist watch (which I do). This watch is a piece of jewelry that completes a look, and it also happens to be functional. Anyway, when I'm checking the time on this very handsome watch, I want to hold it in my hand for a few seconds, so people nearby have more time to take it in. Let them see how cultured and sophisticated I am with my pocket watch. Be jealous. Be very jealous. Anyway, the window in the front cover allows you to get a quick peek at the time if that is what you want.I will say that the cover and the chain seem to made out of a lightweight and cheap metal. They look really nice, but I wonder what time will tell. I'll come back to update on that later. However, for this price, that is completely acceptable. All of the clockwork parts that tell time seem to be made well. There is a very quiet tick tick sound (if I hold it to my ear), which I like. It is not loud at all, so don't worry about that. I can see the parts moving through the windows, and I can also see how tightly the spring is wound, which should prevent me from over-winding. The instructions are to wind until you encounter resistance. Well, the resistance slowly increases as it gets tighter, so it is hard to tell when to stop. I error on the side of caution and stop winding sooner, and I can give it a couple turns throughout the day if I need to. Because I can actually see how tight it is :)I'm a little concerned about the longevity of the cover latch. Just pressing the cover to snap it in might reduce the life expectancy. So, I try to press the cover release down, close the cover, and then release the cover release. That way, it isn't snapping. The time keeping seems to be quite accurate. I've had it running for about 10 hours now, and I have not noticed any drift at all. And this is side-by-side with a very accurate Seiko Automatic watch. If this observation changes over the next few days, I'll update this. But so far, the timekeeping gets two thumbs up.I took off one star for how difficult it is to tell the time, quickly. These are very simple and obvious observations that any clock designer should have considered. Don't have the hands and the background be the same color. I would have liked all white or even red hands. Make sure your printing contrasts with its background. Gold roman numerals would have been nice. But, in the end, you can't beat what you're getting for this price. This is a great "First Pocket Watch". The design is unique and really handsome. I'll wear it out with my designer jeans and t-shirt or button-up. For a suit, I'll probably get a more classic style, and look in a higher price range. Although, this one can certainly pass with a suit, too. I think you'll be quite pleased.UPDATE:I've now had this watch for about a week. The time-keeping is very accurate, when kept wound. Once the spring starts getting down toward the end, it slows down pretty bad. But, that only happened when I left it in the drawer for 36 hours. Otherwise, I've been able to wind it in the morning, and again before bed to keep it right on pace. Winding it this often is not necessary, but I don't want to over-wind it and damage it. So, I'd rather wind it more often, but with fewer turns. When compared to my phone and PC (which are synced with Global time), this pocket watch stays right on. It is actually more accurate than my Seiko Automatic wrist watch.I stand by my criticism of the lack of contracting colors. But also, that it is nice to have it in my hand for a few more seconds, anyway. The opening in the front cover is nice, for quick time-telling. I keep my watch in my pants pocket, and I do notice lint/fuzz on the inside glass, because it gets in through that opening on the front cover. It's not a big deal and wipes away easily.I have not noticed any scratches or dents to anything. It is holding up well. I'm very pleased with this purchase.Update 2 (it has been a couple months now):Well, the inevitable happened, and I apparently over-wound it. I was winding it one morning and not paying close attention, when it suddenly stopped winding. So, the watch is still as accurate as before, but I noticed that it unwinds much more quickly than it used to. I'd say that I now have to wind it at least every 18-20 hours. If I don't wind it after work, it is dead in the morning. But, if I keep it wound, it is still as true as ever and still in great shape. I wear it every day.

Prompt delivery, great style
Beautiful pocket watch! Design is stunning, the ability to view its inner workings from both sides (when open) is captivating. My friend’s young son loves clocks, and I felt this would be an awesome surprise for him to be able to carry & care for his very own. It is lightweight, easily wound + surprisingly quiet when operating: the ticking is only apparent when held next to your ear. I really love how you can still tell time even when it’s closed. The push-open mechanism is a bit springy (not sure how it’ll hold up over time), yet it’s an incredible product overall at an affordable price.

Beautiful, high quality watch that makes a great gift. Flawless finish and performance.
Beautiful, well made timepiece that's accurate, easy to operate, easy to see and red I bought this for my Son as a Christmas gift I had a picture made that fit into the solid side that opens of him sleeping with his newborn Son needless to say there were a few teary eyes Christmas morning . The materials used to make this watch are great quality and the workmanship is excellent the knob to wind the watch doesn't have any excess play in it the button that opens the watch sides is smooth and firm the hinges for the re smooth and strong both my Son and I are very happy with the quality , performance and finish which is even and flawless. The Roman numerals are large enough to see easily , the second hand moves effortlessly and smooth and the interior workings are beautiful and move with great precision. There's nothing about this watch that looks or feels cheap or inferior it made the perfect gift for a brand new daddy from his daddy.

Keeps time
Seems to keep time relatively well over 24hrs. The only thing that feels really cheap on it is the plastic watch face crystal. So far it has been dealing with daily use.0
