Dangerous! It was plugged into the charging brick but not my iPad at the time when I smelled then saw smoke emitting from the cable. I grabbed it (about a foot from the outlet) to unplug it from the wall. The cable was so hot, it burnt my hand. As you can see by the enclosed photo, the cable wasn't frayed or visibly unfit to use in any way. I gave it 1 star because that's the lowest you can give it and still submit a review. I shudder to think what would have happened had I not been at home.

Customer service promptly responded to my issues noted below and replaced the wire. The new one seems to be working as promised. Hopefully it will continue to do so as it is great!Original Review: (1 star) I bought this charging cable because it was long and Apple MFi Certified. Cable came and lived up to its promise for a few days. Then it began acting up-charging for a few seconds then clicking off repeatedly. Upon examining the cord, it appears that there is some type of black stuff/marks on both sides of the connecting piece. Then I began getting the not certified message. This is really upsetting because the product clearly advertises itself as being Apple MFi certified. This in unacceptable. I'm very dissatisfied with this product. While I understand that all cables wear out, this is allegedly brand new.

I purchased 4 cables on April 28th and 3 went bad within 6 weeks. I overlooked the first one as it just happens. The second occurred while on a trip and I threw it out rather than carry it in my bag. After the 3rd stopped charging, I contacted Nexcon. They offered to replace that but the price to return it was the same as the cost of the cable. These cables should last more than 6 weeks.

Refund request - I've had this for exactly 6 months and tonight I get home and notice black charred marks on both sides - and the cord no longer works. I can still charge my iPhone with other cords but this one does not work (or starts cycling on/off/on/off so fast I'm afraid it will burn out my iPhone). My son was using this cord and now his new iPhone 6s (owned 2 mos) will no longer charge or startup - I assume the phone was defective - but it appears the Nekteck cord did not control amp/voltage to correct levels to prevent damage.

Update - I've had some trouble with these cords. I purchased one and approximately 6-7 months later began having trouble with it not charging my iPad. Contacting the manufacturer, they sent a replacement as was under warranty. Now here I find myself with the exact same problem with the replacement cord another 6-7 months later.I was pleased with the fact that it is a nice long cable. Corded woven cover is sturdier longer lasting than standard vinyl sheathing cords. May fray with time and use - remains to be seen.

I ordered this to replace the charger for my IPad Air 2. I am always skeptical of charger replacements, but this cable is amazing. The cable that comes with the IPad is not constructed very well and is basically useless in a short period of time. This cable is very durable, charges lightening fast (as promised) and is a great length. Because of the way it is constructed, I do not see in getting kinked where it plugs into my IPad, like the manufacturer cable does. Great product.

This is a great charger for about 4 months and then it starts to degrade into one of the s***tiest chargers I've ever purchased. TWICE!I thought maybe the first one I bought was an exception since it worked well until suddenly it started to stop charging if the cord was bent at a certain angle. But nope, 4 months later on the 2nd one and this one is doing the same thing.If you're someone who puts their phone on the charger and then walks away I'm sure this would satisfy your needs. If you're like me and actually use your phone while it's charging then I'd invest in another brand.

we got three of these cords and the first one broke during normal use and I thought it was a fluke and then the second one broke the exact same way and left a piece of metal (see photo) stuck inside my iPad.. it can not be removed without damaging the ipad..AVOID this cord!
