Zebco Rambler Fishing Reel and Rod Combo, Durable Fiberglass Rod with Built-in Carabiner, Patented No-Tangle Reel, Pre-Spooled with 8-Pound Zebco Fishing Line

Bought this for my wife to use when we are kayaking . Just an inexpensive light set up. Well , she was out with her kayak over the weekend and the rod got caught on a low tree branch and pulled it out of the rod holder and into the river but she had it clipped on a line and she just had to pull it up to the kayak and got it back . Without the clip built into the rod , it would have been gone for good . A great idea that actually works !! It paid for itself in my opinion. Anyway , It is a good rod for white and yellow perch but I wouldn't be tangling with any big catfish with it . The rod would have a shot but not the reel . Those gears usually get stripped out when you mess with big fish with these inexpensive combos. It's really not a bad combo if you target smaller fish species. The first thing I do with these combos is take the handle off the reel and spray a little wd40 in there . Then , get rid of the line . They always skimp on the line to keep costs down . Get some SpiderWire or your favorite line and spool it up ! If you take care of these set ups , they can last a long time .

Got this for my kayak because a regular pole is a bit cumbersome to use and bait. This baby was GREAT!I caught quite a few perch, brim, and crappie (a couple were fairly big) and the pole did GREAT!!I loved that it was my fav color and matched my kayak and life vest. Love the caribiner clip at the bottom to secure it so I don't accidentally lose it. The reel has been smooth and fun to cast and reel back in.Definitely recommend for kids or even adults when you need something small and compact! I'm a huge zebco fan and always have been and I'd say this lived up to the standard I have for zebco.

I bought this pre-spooled real combo rod/real for my girlfriend who wanted an inexpensive set to fish with. She fished with it for the first time the other day. We spend nearly all our time retying the line because of the birdnesting that would occur after nearly every cast. This combo is not worth the hassle of purchasing or if you do buy it take the fishing line off of it and put on some new.

Item was bought as a birthday gift, by the time it was able to be used by the recipient it was beyond the return period, which is unfortunate as upon opening it and casting for the first time we learned it was defective (line retrieval won't engage and just free spools). Wasted trip and disappointed birthday girl. Contacted Zebco who said they'd replace it, but as shipping would cost me half or more of the purchase price it's not worth it.This is the second Zebco product I've bought recently and the second I've had arrive defective, probably the last Zebco I get too. It inspired me to write my first product review.

I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter. She has been talking about going fishing. I didn't want to spend to much on a fishing pole for the reason kids get bored easy. It turned out better than expected. It is a nice pole for a beginner and the money.
