Easier than chains or cables
I was able to put these on and off quickly with gloves on. This is a big advantage over chains, which require bare hands to tighten and adjust. The AutoSocks don't fit back into the original plastic storage pouch very easily after they have been used.

Excellent product as long as you understand the limitations
This product, when used as directed, will ***significantly*** increase your traction on ***packed snow*** and ***ice***.It will ***not*** turn your car into a "super blizzard machine." If you try to drive in several inches of thick (small particle size) snow, you will probably get stuck. If you spin your tires trying to get out, the AutoSocks will help, but they will also likely fly off of your tires due to centrifugal force. If you drive at 60 mph on a highway filled with snow and have to suddenly apply your breaks, you **will** go sliding out of control. The product is rated at 30 mph. You can go faster, but keep in mind that if you have any issues it is strongly suggested that you slow down. The product is also **fabric**. Yes, it is very strong, but you do **not** put these on your tires for the whole winter. They simply won't last. They might last a few weeks or even a month if your trips are short, at or under 30 mph, and you drive on packed snow and ice 100% of the time. But if you have a winter storm or blizzard, then the roads are cleared with salt within several days, driving on the wet salty asphalt with your AutoSocks on will wear them apart in short order. If you don't take them off, they will probably eventually tear off your tires, and you better hope they don't wrap tight around your axle.Be prepared to answer a lot of questions from bystanders asking what the heck you have on your tires. :)As long as you understand the limitations of the product, you will get a benefit. Do **not** "relax" any extra precautions or care when driving in snow and/or ice because "it's cool, I got AutoSocks on!" Drive as if they are not on, even though they are.

You decide
I will say these do work on Ice and packed snow just as they should. What makes them a 3 star is any rocks in your tread will wear through the fabric very quickly even though I was never on pavement there were some holes that developed within 20 miles of use. I don't recall a warning about this but if it was there I missed it. Putting them on is way easier than removing them. You need to have enough clearance for your hand between your cars tire and fender to get them on the tires. After you put them on 3\4 of the tire move the car forward and finish. The first time it took 4 minutes for one then the other 3 took under 2 minutes each to put on. Now removing them is a different story. They will fill with packed snow in places which makes the fit even tighter and if your thinking you can simply reverse the procedure to get them off you would be wrong. You need to reach around the cover pulling the back edge up to the tread while tugging on the straps to pull it partially over the tread, you repeat this for about half the tire then move the car forward and pull the other half in the same way but it will then come off then you get in the car and move it forward again to get the first half of the cover off you pulled partially over the tread. Once I figured this out it takes a about 4 minutes to remove each one. There is a warning about not parking with them on overnight as they could freeze to the ground, which would be true but they don't tell you that it will freeze to the tire and that may also by why it was so hard to remove. Even with the holes that they do have in them they are still good and I will use them as needed but it's not near as convenient as it may seem to use. The entire reason for the purchase was to avoid having to buy snow tires for 3-10 days out of winter when things get bad also with 20 in rims chains are not an option for my vehicle.

Hard to install, traction not great
Got me out of a jam in the February snowstorm in Seattle but these were incredibly difficult to install on my Tesla S and I had bruised hands to show for it. They added enough traction to get back onto flat ground but it took a long time. Generally I was unimpressed but I did avoid needing a tow truck. My car is AWD so probably would have worked better if I had them on all 4 wheels.

Just as good as chains or cables and even a child could put them on!
I own a 2013 Ford Escape AWD and these are easy to put on and take off. I used them during the recent snowfall in the Sierra (Jan 2016) and I never lost traction once. I did use two pairs, one for the front and one for the back. I do recommend buying two pairs for AWD vehicles, a pair for the front and back. They require no clearance for the wheels (even a Porsche could use them), top speed is 30mph, and if you faster, you run the risk of messing them up. there is no vibration or noise and they don't loose traction when turning at 25 mph. There are so easy to install that a 10 year old kid could do it and they takes less than 5 minutes a tire.My tires are bran new Dunlop SP WINTER SPORT 4DATTN: FORD ESCAPE AWD DOES NOT MEAN AWD IN REVERSE..Performance Winter / Snowand the auto socks give me far superior traction in snow, ice and slush.Buy them and save yourself the disaster of a spin out or worse, a wreck.

Got me home
It snowed 5 inches the night before leaving Breckenridge. I put this on my fwd Acura TL and had no issues leaving and climbing out of the valley. It was easy to put on and take off and store back in the bag. I rode on it probably too long and too fast on somewhat clear roads and some of the steel belting was showing through, but could be used again.

Great start, terrible finish :(
The installation was a breeze, very easy to put on the tires, and like another reviewer mentioned, you will see people around wondering what this is and ask questions. Driving with it is good, i had no problem and didn't go beyond 25mph max. I used them for about 2 hours until we hit the clean road and had to remove them, when.. well it was impossible to remove. They were stuck to the tires and we tried hard to remove them until it started tearing and we wondering how we will get those off. Finally, after 15mn of pulling we finally got them off, but they are unusable so I'm returning this because it's a bit expensive for just one time use. I'm very disappointed because it looked like a great product, but the removal was a disaster.
