Great build quality
I keep asking myself the singular question: Is getting 40% more on a zoom lens worth $449?That said, I am using this with my XT-2 and the 100-400mm lens. I tested in several situations mid day on a super nice day with little clouds and beautiful lighting conditions and am delighted with the results. I did not see anything in the images that would indicate that I was using a telephoto lens. So with respect to image quality, I am super duper happy.Still though, that question. $449 = 1.4 or 40%? Knowing that the 2x is same price and Fuji says it works but seems like 9 out of 10 pro photographers say never use a 2x on a zoom. In a perfect world one would think that the 1.4 should be a bit less but on the other hand the costs to make it are probably the same as the 2x. So, knowing that I like it and did purchase it knowing the price, I think that I need to focus on the build quality. It is a little thing but I know that good glass is not cheap and Fuji makes some great glass. Factoring that into the build quality, (Like a Rolex) I do believe that I got a, "Thing" that is build well enough to be $449 product. A bit of babble there for sure...So in the end. Great quality images, extremely well build and does what it supposed to do. I do love it so going with all five stars. I know that there will be a situation where I will take that single shot from far away and will be glad it was part of my kit.

Excellent results when using this converter
I was a bit skeptical about what quality I should expect from photos taken using this teleconverter based on prior experiences but I was pleasantly surprised. The photos taken using the converter were every bit as good - if not better - than those taken using my regular zoom alone. The fit is very tight for the first few uses (a good thing) and the quality appears to be excellent. Now I have a better range for those wildlife photos.

Outstanding Teleconverter
IMPORTANT: At present this teleconverter is compatible only with Fuji's 50-140mm and 100-400mm lenses. Using with any others either simply doesn't work or could result in equipment damage.I have used teleconverters in the distant past but have avoided them for years. Traditionally they served a useful function but at the cost of reduced light gathering and degraded optical performance. The first is still true - it is inherent in the device. But the ISO performance of the latest generation of Fiji sensors mitigates this somewhat. The second may still be detectable but only with formal tests and instrumentation. In the "old days" it did not take a sharp eye to see that using a teleconverter softened the image. It effect was obvious and unambiguous. I have been using this teleconverter with Fiji's 50-140mm.I see no effect on image quality even at the corners. There must be some but it is so little you will never know.

Nice, well built, didn’t work for me.
As far as materials, this is a typically high quality product made by Fujifilm. It is solid, all metal, with high quality glass. The images are still very sharp and image stabilization from the lens still worked. This item itself does not have image stabilization, it passes the signals for image stabilization if the lens is capable of it. It also passes all EXIF data and allows autofocus and aperture ring control if your lens has an aperture ring. I tried this teleconverter with the Fuji XF 50-140mm lens and was happy with the overall performance as far as making images. What I was not happy about was that I carried the camera and lens with one end of a camera strap attached to the base of the tripod collar on mylens, and the other end attached to the tripod mount on the bottom of my camera, and wore the strap over my left shoulder, letting the camera hang across my body so the camera rested against my right hip. A very common configuration. When I would walk around and then raise up the camera to take a shot, most of the time the teleconverter would have shifted in the mount enough that the camera wouldn’t think a lens was attached and wouldn’t take a picture (which you can change the setting in most Fuji bodies to take pictures without lens attached), and/or you would lose aperture/autofocus control.I would have to remember to twist the lens all the way back on every time I went to take a shot, and I missed a lot of good shots while trying to add that to my process. I shouldn’t have had to do it in the first place.Ultimately, I returned this item, and I don’t know if it was just a bad copy or an ergonomic thing because my guess is that possibly as I carried the lens against my body I could have unintentionally been hitting the lever to release the lens from the teleconverter because it protrudes from the teleconverter and isn’t all that stiff. The only other way this would happen would be if the mount of my particular teleconverter was weak for some reason and did hold tight.I didn’t do an exchange because I decided to return the teleconverter, sell the 50-140, and bought the 100-400mm lens instead, and that is enough reach for me.

First successful experience ever with a 1.4 converter...
After several test shots I find my fotos to be clear and razor sharp using this converter in conjunction with my 50-140mm fuji lens.I have had converters in the past, both 1.4 and 2x. Their performance pails to the fuji 1.4 converter. So far, everything I have purchased branded Fuji in one form or another has been superior or equil to say "Canon"'s brand. Fuji doesn't pay me one cent for my comments, their products for the XT1 line pay me in superior foto quality at prices I can afford and weights I can carry on my shoulder.

Fujinon XF1.4X - Quality That’s Worth The Effort
Brings the quality you’d expect from Fuji. Everything you’ve heard and read about teleconverters is true. There are trade offs and a learning curve. Honestly, the XF1.4X has taken me down a path that’s expanded both my interests and abilities as a photographer. Would I buy it again? Yes. Should you buy it? Sure...just understand this type of addition to your tool kit will be a journey. And isn’t that why we chose this hobby (or profession)?

Works as advertised - recommended
Works great! I use it on my 100-400 and it works really well.Minimal affect on the AF speed ... haven't noticed anything really with birds etc.And as far as the clarity of the images goes, again ... I can't see any difference between the lens with it on and without the TC mounted.Pricey ... for use on only a few of Fuji's lenses , but it works well. If you need the extra reach, go for it.

Brilliant
Great piece of equipment to add to my camera. It’s not bulky and easy to carry and doesn’t add much additional weight to the lens. Tried it out this morning and very pleased with it. The photos are out my back door and the images are really clear, so I’m very pleased.

Ottimo prodotto!
