Strong pigments that mix well. Portable and practical.
Strong pigments that mix well. Great student-grade watercolor paints. Portable and practical.Dimensions:- The set when closed is L x W x H of 5.5 x 4.5 x 0.875 in. (14.00 x 11.43 x 2.22 cm).- The set when extended is 10 in. (25.4cm) wide.- The size 5 Cotman brush is 4.5 in. (11.43cm) in length.- The paint pans are 0.5 x 0.75 x 0.375 in. (1.27 x 1.91 x 0.95 cm).Pros:- Strong, non-grainy pigments that mix well- Portable and compact with ~ 9 defined regions on the palette for mixing- Ability to replace the paint pans or re-use the pans to hold tube paints- Good value for the priceCons:- Lacking a darker color (e.g. Payne’s Grey or Black) for mixing- Bottom palette is difficult to slide outI recommend using double-sided tape or glue to stick the paint pans into the case slots. To prevent the paint blocks themselves from falling out of the pans, wet the underside of the block (and/or mix until the paint thickens on the underside of the block), place back into the pan, and let dry to secure.

Worth every penny
I am a newer watercolor painted and did not want to invest a lot since I am still learning. I noticed when I painted following tutorials I could not get the paint to blend and look like the videos. I took some classes on blending and colors but I still could not get that look. I decided to invest in a better brush and I am very happy with the brush but the colors still were not working they way they should. I kept seeing these palettes being used and decided to invest in this one as it was a very reasonable price with the main colors I use. It came today and WOW what a difference. I just did a fast flower to try them out and it was amazing. The paint honestly did most the work to make it look fantastic. The blending and colors were perfect. I can’t wait to complete a full page. I would definitely advise as a beginner to start with this set since it has the main colors you can mix and use for almost anything. You will save money and time and probably keep it up since you won’t get frustrated and stop trying like I almost did

Perfect for new artist!
I really like the colors available in this travel kit. I’m brand new to water colors and was happy to discover while watching tutorials that I had every foundational color in my kit- and some extra ones for fun!I did a lot of research before choosing a kit, and landed on this palette due to the popularity and dependability of the brand. I wanted a kit suitable for travel (tested and approved!) and one forgiving to entry level hobbyists. Totally recommend this item, and have received compliments from student/professional grade painters too :)

awesome paints and great for travel, but double check the colors included
I wanted a compact travel watercolor set. There are a bunch out there, and even though I'm a total beginner, I wanted decent quality - a better "student" grade. I have some Arteza metallic watercolor (omg ah-mazing!) and Prima watercolor (sooo good), so I wanted to go with a name that I had heard of for my travel set. I watched a lot of product review vids on ytube, and thought this would be the set for me. And in so many ways it is! I love the size. I know it says it holds 14 half-pans, but I actually got 20 in it. Where the little brush goes, I fit 6 pans in there! This is when I found out that W&N half-pans are proprietary in size. They are just a wee bit smaller. Only the W&N half-pans will fit where the brush goes, but I was able to wedge Prima half-pans in where the others were removed.I like the tiny water dish. It's not quite as practical as I'd hoped, but I plan to place an old-school film canister in there (will be water-tight and perfect fit to sit in it!) and have a bit more water. I also really like that the bottom tray slides out for mixing space. The colors are very pigmented and don't rub off or feel chalky (I'm trying to learn what "good" watercolor should and shouldn't do!).So why the four stars? I bought this set because of the case itself, and because I specifically wanted payne's grey and ivory black - both were to be included. Neither were included. That's why I ended up fitting in 6 more pans - I had to buy ANOTHER set (I bought a random watercolor set by gencrafts) so that I could have grey and black. Grrrrrr. The description has already been updated from when I bought it, but too late for me. I do really like it, so I didn't want to return it.

Just love this little set
We brought it on a trip along the Seine and I brought an extra small brush for my husband. We spent a couple of hours on the top deck painting some of the scenery--not that we're good at it!, but it was so fun. The paints are vivid and beautiful, and the little brush is good quality. And it's so small that packing it takes no extra room. Recommended if you are traveling and want to take advantage of the scenery by painting it!

I LOVE THESE PAINTS
I love painting in the go, especially out in nature, and this set has been great for me. I've had it for over a year now. I bought it after doing research into different watercolor brands for casual or amateur artists, and while other brands were cheaper, I thought that this set would be the best return for my money as the paints are quality. I've had no issues with the paints, and the small size of palette has been convenient for me. There are other sets within the Cotman line that have more color options, but I tend to stick to the same couple of colors and have not had any major issues with that so far. This is my main palette even when I paint indoors at home, as I very much so enjoy using it. I've had to buy replacements tubes for colors a couple times since I've ran out, but that's mainly because of how often I paint haha. The only complaint I really have with this palette is the included brush. It's not a bad brush, per say, but I definitely prefer to use my own set instead.
