I love this medallion!
I have a 57 pound pit bull terrier. We live next door to a family with multiple dogs and the fleas that go along with them. I put this medallion on in May and take it off in October. My dog has no fleas. The ticks that bite her immediately die and can easily be removed. I check her for ticks daily so that none have a chance to cause any illness issues. This is my third year to use this medallion and it works perfectly. We also use a heartworm preventative but it does not cover fleas and ticks. So the medallion works great for our situation.

Totally works!
I was skeptical at first but these collar tabs really work! We live in Kansas and the dogs have free reign over the fences 1.3 acres-they’re in and out all day! We have five dogs - I’ve found a few ticks walking the doggos but none imbedded. And there are NO FLEAS on any of the animals. They stay on their collars even with all the rough housing and zoomies-and it’s a much more affordable way to keep them pest free! There is no smell and it makes me feel better that the repellent isn’t directly on their skin!

Good
After figuring out how to successfully keep this on my dog's collar, this thing works great! It is hideously large and looks a bit ridiculous hanging on the collar but if you don't mind that, I would say this product is worth the money. I have not found a flea or tick on my dog all summer.

The best!
I absolutely love these tags for my dogs. They keep ticks off my 2 labs. We live by a woodsy area and I never find ticks on them.

Great for our Kennel
Durvet Spectra Shield Collar Attached Medallion, 56-Pound and Over works great on our dogs. We have seen no ticks and Fleas since we put them on the dogs. They do not have an offensive odor which is nice. I would recommend this product to anyone that lives in a high tick area. Thank you for such a wonderful product.

Effectiveness varies.
In Philly, Monster Pets had a huge display of the Spectra Shields. They were new, expensive (well, worked out about the same as squeezey drops), and nobody at the store knew anything about them to tell me how well they did or didn't work for me to be willing to part with $65 of my microscopic income. Down here in Florida, the fleas are horrible and relentless; it's just a fact of life. We live pretty much in the sticks, in a place where there are no streetlamps or sidewalks, and where even after you've sprayed your house to kill the fleas and sprinkled stuff in the carpets for them, the moment you open your window or walk the dog, you have them again. That said, the tag hasn't done much to help deter the little buggers. There's a fair amount of positive reviews - enough to talk me into shelling out $15 for the tag - but an equal amount of people stating just the opposite. In a place in less dense woods and sand, the tag probably works just fine. But as it stands, the tag isn't enough and seems to be hopelessly outmatched and outnumbered by fleas. So why three stars? The ingredients are pretty solid, there's no mess or chemical smell, and my dog hasn't had any adverse reactions to the tag. That isn't to say it's perfectly safe for all dogs since it IS still a pesticide, but it's a much safer one. My belgian has had negative reactions to flea medicines before and that rather scared me off of them, especially with the rise in pet deaths and lawsuits against the big brands. Because the release of the medicine is so low, it's not strong enough against the fleas here, but it hasn't caused any irritation or allergies. He isn't a chewer, but the tag is also safe if your dog happens to be a chewer and chews the tag or even ingests any of it, which is also a huge plus.Even though the tag hasn't been the miracle solution I was hoping for, I plan to keep it on my dog's collar until it's empty, as well as combine the tag with an oral flea tablet in hopes of that working through the rest of summer.
