This Lionel Fastrack uncoupling track section. It features an electromagnetic copper coil which engages the uncoupling disk on Lionel and other manufacturers rolling stock. The car goes over activation area on the track section, the person then presses a button and the cars knuckle opens. This section will not activate the coil couplers with the offset shoe found on post war Lionel rolling stock such as the Lionel 2343 EMD F3’s from the early 1950’s.

It works as advertised. What more can I write?

Have to install within easy reach, which may be awkward at times.

Unit arrived, Lionel box, someone added tape, as well 2 ripped sections where prior purchaser opened box without care. The wiring was just tossed back in box, the black looms, were not on the wires just 1 laying in box, 1 side of track completely smashed an unable to put in line with Fastrack o gauge track. Unsure if it actual works either, submitting return and new replacement.

The track is thermally limited but the only protection against over heating is a cation statement that is repeated five times throughout the instructions.The rated operating voltage is 10-12 Vac but my Lionel transformers have 18 Vac accessory terminals. I can buy a separate accessory transformer or guess at the throttle setting to hit 10-12 V track voltage.The later works but I fear that it’s only a matter of time before I break it. This thing really should protect itself against over-temperature and over-voltage.
