Terrible Quality, Tore first day
On our first time out playing with it, our dog, a German Shorthaired Pointer tore this to shreds. Exactly what I was afraid of happening with this dummy. Our dog has a soft mouth, has hunted for years, and is not destructive at all. Damage occurred literally with him holding it in his mouth running back to me. I bought this to replace an old Dummy we had been using for years. That one was *free* and lasted longer than this one! Extremely disappointed. I am hesitant to purchase anything from SportDog now, as we had been hoping to buy their invisible fence, now I don't know...

Waste of money. Didn’t last 5 minutes.
Got this today and my little guy was excited to try it out. Threw it around the yard with him for less than 5 minutes and this is what happened just from me throwing and him retrieving. Didn’t let him just sit and chew on it at all or tug in it. Definitely a waste of money.

survives my 45lb golden and 100lb lab no problem Updated - now made like crap! Dont buy
Update, the latest couple that I bought are falling apart very fast. they have gone to a much thinner plastic( 1 mil vs previously 3mil ) to hold the sand inside and that plastic ruptures within about 10 throws. then the sand leaks out ,and goes to the bottom of the canvas. after about another 20 or 30 throws the the sand causes the stitching to blow out and then the sand leaks out....no more weighted dummy. i will not be buying this brand anymore and I recommend you dont either till they fix their garbage.I am buying my 3rd set of these because my dogs keep wearing them out (or i lose them). These are canvas and I can attest that these "it ripped in 5 min" reviews are a lie. I have a 45# golden and her friend a 100# lab. We use these to death with the dogs. The only low quality part is the grommet. that pulls through the canvas fairly quick but just re-tie the rope and these will take a beating. They are training dummies, NOT tug-of-war toys, or chew toys. Use them as what they are and yes, they will wear out, but only after taking a severe beating.

Falling apart after 1 month
These bumpers are perfect, with one problem. They just don’t last. The 3x12 are a great size for my retriever. They are slightly heavy, so they’re easy to throw and the heft reinforces a good hold. The problem is, they just don’t last if you’re throwing them. If you lay them on the ground for blinds or scent work, sure, it’ll do.I highly recommend that you buy a “firehose” style bumper instead. We train twice a day, only making 3 to 5 throws per session. The bumpers are put away after training, so the dog doesn’t have access unless we’re training. Two out of three are destroyed within the first month. One bumper split at the seams on the third day. All of the sand poured out, so it’s now a pool noodle in a sock. It doesn’t throw very well…The grommet ripped out of the second bumper after a couple weeks. So much for throwing that one without a rope! The third one is still intact, likely because we haven’t used it much, and I am hoping that it lasts long enough for the “firehose” style bumpers that I ordered to be delivered.

I like it for my older dogs
I like it for my older dogs, the description and size doesn't match what we got. We got a larger one. Definitely not a puppy one. It's double the size of my actual puppy one. Also for those who say it broke within ten minutes of play, this is for training, it's not exactly a "toy" it's not meant for a dog to bite down hard on it and tug type play. It's meant to train a dog to retrieve.

not colorfast
I took this outside to play with the dog. Left it in the backyard after playtime. Two days later all of the color was bleached out of it. It was bright orange when we got it and now it looks off white. When you pick it up you can see the orange in the folded part at the seam, but apparently the sun bleached out the rest of the color. - keep in mind I'm in New Hampshire and it was March - not exactly long hours of sunshine here yet. It's made to be outside for play, you would think the color could hold up more than a couple of days in the sun. It's still in perfect condition other than the color - sturdy ad well put together, just not as easy to find when you throw it since it's not hunter orange anymore and the off-white tannish color that it has become just doesn't stand out.

Good size for puppy training
Great price point and size to introduce pup to dummy training. Has held up well to teeth and abrasion. The seam where sown together is starting to show signs of unraveling. Will probably try to put a little hot glue on it to protect. Used twice a day for about two months and still in very good shape though. Has been wet and dried many cycles and still holding well. One point, "jumbo" is not at all accurate way to describe. Its about 6 inches long and maybe 1.5 inches wide. Good for introduction to retrieving and maybe for use if you are only trying for dove, but if your working towards ducks or pheasant, you will need bigger at some point.

I have a Border Collie who needs jobs. One ...
I have a Border Collie who needs jobs. One job is when we walk out to get the newspaper (300'). Until I got this nifty thing, he would take the newspaper from it's box and take it into the house, stopping on the way to chew it and shake it abit, leaving us with a shredded newspaper. I suppose he's trying to remove it from the plastic bag they put it in (we get a little rain here in the Pacific Northwest). I started having him wait until I retrieved the paper then swapped out this nifty thing, wrapped in one of the plastic bags from the paper. He loves it! Job's done! No more torn paper, though I've had to replace the plastic bag more than once. The canvas cover holds up rather well. Shows teeth marks but no punctures, tears or rips...

Well made but tiny
It's well made, but tiny. Only about six inches long. Good for a small puppy.

Poor Quality - Lasted Less Than 1 Hour
Bought this - dog loved it but it was totally wrecked after less than 1 hour. Ripped and all the sand came out. Dog is a Golden Retriever 10 months old.

Didn’t last long
Great and my pup loves it, didn’t last too long, a month maybe, but we do a lot of fetching in the parking lot so still recommend. I just ordered another. The sand just starts to leak out near the seam by the rope, so still a chew toy just no nice weight.

Great training tool for a Lab puppy
I like that its the right size for his small mouth, durable and has some weight to it which is good for throwing and fetching.
