Dropcases Nest Cam & Dropcam Pro Case Outdoor Enclosure (Black Bundle: Ball Joint)

Received the unit yesterday.....the two screws holding the base together were stripped and falling out so no way for the unit to stay attached to the mounting surface, very poor quality control. Also for those of you that are unaware, it's abundantly clear that this is not sealed and water can enter the unit. The hole where the cord runs into the unit is way to large for the cable that comes with the Nest cam and if positioned outside without some form of adequate covering, water will clearly enter the unit (see photo)

Let's be clear here... Nest Cam (DropCam) is made for indoor use. Screw that... we're taking this puppy outdoors! With a cover like this, there is no reason to keep your new product indoors. I did a lot of research and the Dropcams were the first easy set-up, and wireless (kind of) solution. You will need access to a power outlet (see below).I now have 3 outdoor cams, with dropcases. I have yet to find a problem with them. I would caution that it's probably wise to find an eve or something that will keep your camera dry most the time. The dropcase should be protecting from condensation, and not pillaging rain. You'll need to buy a dropcase AND the ball joint or flex joint. IMHO, they should just sell the two together.PRO's: It lets you take your dropcam outside.It protects your dropcam from the elements - if placed correctly.CON's: This product (the ball joint) needs to be combined with the camera cover. Buy them both together.Probably the biggest limitation with an outdoor camera like this is access to an outdoor power receptacle. I had to hire an electrician to wire some outlets up high and away from the elements. The "up high" is important so would-be thieves can't unplug it easily. However a bonus to this - you now have easy access to a power outlet for Christmas lights!

This is a great product! I also have the gooseneck one for another camera. I love this one though because it fits nicely over the door and can be aimed exactly where it needs to be. The only thing I have to complain about, (the only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star rating) is that it didn't come with any nuts to screw onto the back of the screws that go through the case to attach it to the mounting. (The gooseneck one did come with these nuts.) I bought washers from Lowe's and that worked fine.

Only thing missing from this is an internal fan which would be fantastic in the summer to cool these Dropcam Pro and Nest Cam. I have my Nest Cam installed in it and it works great. Protects the camera and WiFi signal is great. Def recommended.

Love this product. The camera and cable fits perfect. The directions were simple and installation was a breeze. I was concerned about the sound quality, but much to my surprise, it was outstanding. I love it so much I just ordered a second case.

Design is pretty good but quality is not so good. A couple of the inserts that the screws thread into were stripped out. During assembly they probably use electric drivers to run in the screws. Just so happens I got the ones missed by quality control. Two of the mounting screws included were also deformed during manufacturing and were unusable. The opening where the wiring enters the enclosure is way too big which would allow insects to enter. I used duct seal to close them up. I think these are about 50% overpriced. Although. What's our option ?

I have a Samsung SmartCam and was concerned that it may not fit, but I figured $10 is worth the risk. Fortunately the SmartCam fits perfectly.

It's just the perfect fit for my camera. Nice product, hope it will last long.

Really not pleased with this mount. Once I installed it, I noticed that the black rings on the clear plastic face interfere with the camera's ability to focus properly.

Though I would not consider this product water proof, or even weather proof, it has a solid build. The video quality, day and night, looks un affected.

You only get the goose arm for your Dropcam camera. You have to buy the case for the camera separately. The arm is not that flexible.

Have ordered two of these in the past, and they work great, however ordered a third one which does not fit with the older model NestCam.

just what we needed to mount our nest cam in its outdoor case without driling through siding!!
