I have an ikea 20 insert should i order a 18 or 20 inch cover in silver grey? im looking for a "karate chop look"

I think it depends how thick your pillow is. I tried a few 18inches for my 20inch inserts, but they were too small. 20 inch worked perfect. If you are looking for a karate chop look, then definitely go for a 20inch cover.

If I order 18 x 18, should I use 20 x 20 insert?

I bought this item almost a year ago for my granddaughter, do not recall the insert size. Sorry. However, the pillow covers were very nice.

Are they washable? It says in the description they are and the tag says Dry Clean!

If it says it is then do it. But always wash things like this pulled inside out & washed in a garment bag with light detergent & light fabric softener. To dry I suggest keeping in garment bag & putting in dryer set on air dry only with a fabric sheet for 3 minutes just to help with possible wrinkles. Once the 3 min is up, take the cases out, turn them right side out, shake them out once then drape over something or hang with a skirt hanger with the clips. Try to clip onto as little as possible so there aren’t any intentions left in the velvet. Shake out once again once dry. Most things one owns can be cleaned in this manner for future reference. I hope these tips help others as well. I wash many dry clean items in this manner also. Just add a hand towel to a separate mesh garment bag also to wash with hand washables & dry clean only items. (Wool skirts, rayons, delicates of all types).

What kind of material is this? Is it just decorative?

It is a soft, stretchy material and does feel like velvet, but it really is a true, shiny gold color. The pillows look striking in my living room, but they might be 'too flashy' for some. I would not hesitate to use them as a pillow while lounging on the sofa, they seem very durable and well made to me. I got the 12 X 12 " size to recover my old pillows, and these are sized perfectly, with very well done zippers on one side. I recommend them.
