Save your money.
Gigantic POC!! Stay away from it. If you have $500-$600 that you want to throw away, buy it. If not, stay away from this head unit. Don't be stingy and look for the original part for your Mercedes. It will save you from a gigantic headache. Now that I finally got it out of my system, let me be more specific about this head unit. First, I ordered this unit because it looks very much like the original from Mercedes-Benz. 2 days later, the seller contacted me and said that the head unit that comes with android 4.0 was not available anymore. They were going to send one with android 4.2.2 instead. I agreed to this, but, he never told me that the looks of the radio where a little bit different. It comes with 2 granular knobs instead of one. Then I thought, what the heck, it comes with android KitKat and the screen is big enough, so I can live with that. Second, I bought this radio basically for two reasons: built in bluetooth and GPS. Well, let me tell you that the bluetooth option is a hit & miss with iPhone 5s. After pairing the phone with the radio, I attempted to make phone calls and it worked perfectly. Next thing, I Get out of the car with my phone and came back 5 minutes later. After turning the unit back on, I tried to use the phone feature again and it did not work. I thought that maybe my phone had the bluetooth signal off but it was OK. So, I discovered that, the first time when you get in the car and the radio comes on, it will pair your phone automatically. If you leave the car and take your phone along, you will have to pair the phone again MANUALLY. Sometimes, it will do it automatically. Many other, you will have to do it yourself. For the GPS option, I have no comments. It seems to works fine. It picks up satellite signals right away. Third, the radio is advertised as iPod compatible, and it is. However, you are not going to be able to control or charge your iPod with this unit since It does not have a port in the back for such feature. What it makes it compatible is the fact that, you will be able to plug it from the HEADPHONES port in your iPod into the AUX IN port wire in the head unit. To do so, you will have to buy an RCA male to 3.5 JACK female converter, and find a place in the car where you can leave it permanently. Maybe the glove compartment would be your best option, but remember, you still have to charge your iPod which you are not able to do. Let me continue. Fourth, this unit comes with 2 USB ports. One is for the 3G/Wi-Fi antenna, and the other one is USELESS!!! USB ports are NOT 2.0, so, no matter what device you want to connect to these ports, it will not get enough juice to charge or do anything. I bought the cable for USB 1.0 ports to USB 2.0 with the same results. No charge/data. If you are thinking in using this port to plug your iPod/iPhone it just won't work. There is not enough current to power it up. Fifth, the original antenna in your car, won't work the same way as in the original head unit. You will have to buy an extra antenna to make it work right. First, I bought the connector that comes with the extra cable for the accessories power line. This will act as an antenna amplifier and you will be able to receive a clear radio reception. Wrong! You will get a STEREO reception in certain areas only (I live in a Metro area and should not have such problem, yeah right!). So, I bought an extra antenna that solved the problem. Now, I can get the same radio reception I had before with the factory head unit. Sixth, and I think this is the most annoying one. The seller claims that this unit comes with a CANBUS unit that will keep the functionality of your steering wheel buttons. If you are an owner of a Mercedes-Benz, you know that those buttons, among the radio options, also are for the control of the ON-BOARD computer in your dashboard. Well, first, there is no communication between the head unit and the dashboard. The screen on the dashboard will show a series of lines under the "audio" option. No radio station number. Yes, you still can change the radio station with the up and down buttons here. However, if you go to the next screen that shows you the odometer, or miles traveled since first start and you push the button up or down, it will change the radio station. No matter what screen you are on, it will change the station when you push the buttons up or down. In the original head unit, you were able to change the radio stations only under the "RADIO" position. Well, these are some of the problems I have found so far with this head unit. I am about to uninstall it and put the original back on. I have talked to the seller in China about these problems, but, he/she does not seem to understand. I just hope I can get a full refund on this. Now, you have been warned. You get what you pay for.
