Works great in Boss BR1600
This gender changer works great with Boss BR recorders. This is required to install a 2.5 in SSD in those old machines.

Excellent 2.5" drive 44pin adapter
Purchased to interface 2.5" PATA laptop drives with old IDE interface. I selected this company's product partly due to having a separate power connector, which some I looked at did not, and for the clean, simple "in-line" design vs others I saw that mounted perpendicular to the drive. I think it is important to have the separate power connector as some older 2.5" drives I have are marked as needing 1.1A which should come straight from the power supply rather than any interface cable. The workmanship of the gender changer is top notch; finding no flaws in the construction. I had no trouble connecting to hd's or to desktop system to transfer files. I appreciated the power and drive activity led's while doing these transfers. The only concern I have is the back side of the gender changer has the clipped pins of the components exposed so best to make sure you sit the drive/gender changer on an insulated surface during use. The 44pin connection was never designed to support or secure a drive so don't expect it to do so! Most of my use will be temporary so this isn't a big problem; but for those that may install and forget you could have trouble. My thoughts were if it had an insulated cover that fit over the backside would eliminate my concerns and make the product near bulletproof. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the gender changer and have already used several times. I have already ordered another to have on hand in case I lose this one or put a drive into permanent installation.

Warning: Adapter does not have proper spacing for certain enclosures.
This adapter has very good build quality, however I did not pay attention to form factor, as the spacing between the IDE and Power plug was too small (non-existent) to work in my enclosure. I would highly recommend this for anyone needing to adapt a 44pin to 40pin IDE, as long as you doublecheck the spacing needed for your application. I will not dock points from the vendor for a mistake I made ordering the wrong thing.

Works Like A Charm
Very efficient way to gain access and transfer old files on smaller laptop hard dives.

Non-functional
It doesn't work! Attempted with several drives, different cables, different controllers. No dice on all accounts. Simply defective and not worth time/effort to return. Thus this bad review! I bought a sata/Ide convertor of the same brand and it worked so I guess there is that; some of their products work. On a side note, the lights light up and the hard drives do spin up, but nothing is sent from the drive to the motherboard ide/ide controller cards. I looked over the soldering and I cannot find anything that stands out as being bad accept two ide pins are soldered together that I have never seen done this way on any other ide product, so I might just remove this solder joint after a little research on what pins these are and why they deserved to be directly soldered together. I also tested the drives using a crappy USB / laptop IDE converter and the drives just work. What more can I say? I will try a converter from another brand I guess, or hopefully get this one to work after modification. On second thought after looking over the solder points on the connector, this is some pretty next level crap work! This product deserves the bad review!

Defective Manufacture -- Unless . . . .
The Power Plug Socket is welded in upside down ! Unless you have a motherboard cable with long power plugs, forget it. No way there's enough flexibility/length to make this fit to the cable.

Dependable
I use these all the time for SSD laptop drives in my 'vintage' P4 desktop gaming system.
