Excellent knife that you wont find in many stores.
The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that my case badge that's inlayed in the bone handle fell out somewhere. I would have just glued it back in but it's so small I never found it again. Anyone buying this should also know that the blade is NOT surgical stainless steel it IS carbon steel as advertised. It will rust and within a few weeks of use WILL turn black. Anyone who has a problem with that should buy a different model. Any model with surgical stainless steel blades will NEVER rust. I have a 2 blade Case XX Trapper that I've had nearly 10 years and it has never rusted but it requires 2 hands to open. The carbon blades are easier to sharpen but rust. The surgical stainless blades are harder to sharpen but never rust. You should choose a steel that reflects your personal sharpening skills and the work you intend to do with it. The carbon blades should not be used around caustic materials but the stainless blades can. This single blade trapper is also the only case I've ever owned that locks. I would recommend case knives to anyone who needs a reliable pocket knife for basic cutting, if you're going to whittle or use it for hard cutting find something else like a thick fixed blade these knives are not meant for heavy use.

Premium quality, classic
I was introduced to this knife by drooling over the gear at Best Made co. They sell a variation of this knife with different color scales, and stainless blade, for about $150. Like anybody, I shopped around, and was unsure whether this would be the same quality, or if the other seller had some special care put into the finished quality of their version.I was more attracted to the Chrome Vanadium blade anyway so I went for it.I am completely satisfied with my knife. It is beautifully polished, and I couldn't be happier. The edge was pretty sharp, but not finely honed with, say a 6000 grit whetstone. Maybe Best made puts a finer edge on their blade before sale, but for me it's not worth double the price. The fit and finish couldn't be nicer, and it's made in the USA.At first the blade was a little tight fitting, and wouldn't flick open. I noticed some fingerprints on the blade, and wondered if someone returned it for that reason. I knew full well that it just needed to be broken in, and now it flicks open pretty easily with one hand. I highly recommend this knife, and I'm sure you will be satisfied with it as well.

No longer a let down!
I am truly disappointed with this knife. After two weeks of occasional light use opening boxes, cutting twine and sharpening pencils the blade is wobbly and dull. Today I had to cut some light 1/2" vinyl tube and I was afraid the blade would flip backward. I have no confidence in this knife and I am sending it back to Case. If you plan to use it for more than cleaning your fingernails, opening letters or looking at how pretty it is- you should choose something else. I now think of Case knives like I think of show cars, sure they are nice and they are made of great parts and like the car that never leaves the garage, Case is the knife that should never leave your pocket.Update.l sent this knife back to Case for repair and when I recieved it back from them it was perfect. My faith in Case has been restored and I can hardly wait to put this back in service! It's nice to know that Case stand behind their products and I will surely buy from them again.

Quality semi traditional pocketknife.
I chose the trapperlock because I wanted a traditional pocketknife with the convenience of a locking blade, pocket clip, and the ability to open with one hand. My only real complaint is I expected it to be easier to open with one hand. I guess I'm used to the Kershaw leek. It's doable, but don't expect lightning speed like more modern knives with assisted opening. It also didn't come as sharp as some of my other Case knives.Other than that I still that it's a solid well built pocketknife. And despite my complaints I still carry it with me almost daily.I went with the black handled stainless steel blade btw. Nothing against cv, I just prefer the bright shiny steel vs the patina that forms on cv blades.

Smooth action, safe linerlock
I collect knives, so after 65 years, it is a little easier to avoid impulsively buying a new one. Six months ago I put this Case Trapperlock on my collection list. Six months later and I didn't find another knife with the features that put it on my list. Features on the list were blade length, shape, hollow ground, thumb button, liner lock and Delrin or high strength synthetic handle scales in a hi visibility color. American made. My new Case Trapperlock came today. It is all I expected from Case and more. The action is easy and smooth. Fit and finish of the parts is superb. The smooth polish feel of the orange Delrin scales and the whole knife feel is completely right in my hand for dressing small game, big game, utility work or self defense. The Trapperlock from Case has my highest recommendation for a do-it-all pocket knife.

Typical Case quality!
I have several Case knives and they have always been great quality knives at an affordable price point. This one is no exception. It’s the quality product I’ve come to expect from Case knives. If I had to pick one thing about this one that bothered me it would be that it wasn’t as sharp as other Case knives I’ve bought. But the high carbon stainless steel Case uses is great quality so it only took a few minutes with a diamond card and leather strop block to get this knife shaving sharp. The fit and finish is top notch and the locking mechanism is rock solid. No blade play whatsoever. Buy with confidence.

Will last a lifetime
This is a fantastic knife. The moment you pick it up you can tell that this is of high quality and that a lot of care was put in to making of this knife. Out of the box it was razor sharp. The performance is exceptional. Plus I love the convenience of a pocket clip and thumb stud with this classic styling. It is a combination that you see very often. My only complaint is that the stain of the woods scales is much lighter colored than pictured.

The liner lock could be better.
Fit and finish was excellent. Mechanically however, there was play up and down in open locked position. Not alot but some. Also the first time i carried it the pocket clip somehow caught on the seatbelt and when i got out i found the knife still on the seatbelt with a bent pocket clip.
