Excellent Tips!
A great little book packed full of tips backed up with great examples!I’ve watched a number of videos that Mr Kersey has done and really enjoy his work and the straightforward style of his instruction. The tips in this book include numerous and diverse topics, which go into surprising depth. For example the tips covering the importance of shadows include various examples with the light coming from different directions, examples of the best ways to determine colors of the shadows, and examples showing how a composition can be improved by altering the opacity of the shadows, etc. This books of “tips” includes more content and explanations than many other books designed to be complete tutorials and the composition of the paintings used in the examples are very well done.It is an excellent resource for beginners up to and including advanced amateurs.

SIMPLE TO FOLLOW
I've come to love Geoff Kersey's instructional booklets as a springboard for my own creative pieces. I use his formula at the beginning, planning full well to do it exactly as he instructs. Then the fun begins when my own thoughts start coming in and I'm combine both. I've done several decent paintings that I'm rather proud of, and I credit Mr. Kersey's fine and simple language in this book in particular. These tips are invaluable and easily applicable. I highly recommend all of his books. I own all I believe. His larger, bit more expensive book on perspective is simply and quite an eye opener.

Helpful art tips
The book is small in size, but big in content. The art tips are written clearly, and are accompanied by picture examples. Would recommend it to both beginning artists and experienced artists who want to improve or try new techniques. Check out his YouTube art channel to see if his style is what you are looking for.

One of my favorites
I own quite a few watercolor painting books, and this is one of several that I've purchased in the past 6 months. It's become one of my favorites, several things have singled out out as quite a gem. The artist has a couple step-by-step examples in the book and I love them for their simplicity. Most of the book focuses more on tips and techniques, again I enjoy the simple way he explains them. It's very much a case for beauty in simplicity. He also talks about not being bound by what your subject photo shows and makes quite a good case for it.The book itself is well made and I have no concerns about it standing up to the tests of time.I will offer some advice to others on buying painting books. Before you buy a book, look up the artist, if you don't like their work there is a good chance you won't like their book either.

Geoff Kersey is one of my favourite watercolourists, and not only does he have an incredible talent for painting, but he also has a wonderful teaching style...probably the best teacher I have ever experienced, which is very difficult to achieve in book form. I also subscribe to ArtTutor.com where Geoff has many video classes, and his teaching style in videos also is second to,none. I have learned more from Geoff Kersey than from any other watercolour artist.

Top tips is right
I just received this today, but looking through it, it seems to be a good book full of ideas to try out the next time I paint. I enjoy his paintings and that is one thing I consider when I look at books to help with my painting. If I don't paint in the same style it's not as encouraging to receive inspiration from the directions. I may order another of his books later. These books are not as big as the regular 11x8 painting books but it makes them handy to take along when you go outside to paint.

Importance of the quality of the brushes and the various paper to select. All makes a difference.
I am a fairly newcomer to art and watercolour paints. This pocket booklet is informative, clearly laid out and moves one along gently. There is a lot of very useful advice, even for a more advanced novice. The quality of the whole booklet with the contents page helping one to check out best ways to achieve results being presented in logical order. The adding figures page onto a painting is extremely useful.. Actually one can learn from each page and indeed experiment following the photos presented.Great value...recommended.

A great book
For the beginner it is invaluable as it goes over your (in)ability to draw complicated things and to keep within a limited (but with generous possibilities) palette. So anyone can try his best at this without too a spectacular failure! As you progress, adding new skills comes easy and adding new colors to your palette becomes a very responsible and judicious decision that improves the perception of your own work. All the questions regarding watercolor materials, technique and so on are answered here in an accessible manner.Highly recommended!

Excellent Little Reference Book
This arrived this morning but I already had a copy from the local library. I would call myself an intermediate water colour painter with a lot still to learn even at a basic level e.g. the painting of trees or interesting foregrounds. This book is a little gem with lots of practical exercises which can be followed easily. So many books have demonstrations which might be useful but are nearly always in the later stages beyond the competence of us lesser mortals. The virtue of this little book is that, if you are not feeling up to attempting a full-blown painting - and let's face it, most of us have these kind of days - you can spend a few rewarding minutes practising the basic skills on spare bits of paper and still feel that you have achieved some measure of improvement from each brief exercise. And one of the best pieces of advice anyone can give an aspiring painter is to be aware of the need for regular practice, however basic this might be. Not always possible, of course, but this is where this book comes in useful, in providing the motivation and the wherewithal to carry out this resolve.
