What kind of cleaning solution should I use?

Low foam is OK.I didn't see the seller's description before, and use high-foam cleaning solution, it leaks at the bottom.Use it with a cloth under it

Could I put a cleaning product in the machine for smell and refresh?

First, let me say this is the absolute best for sucking up spills. It has far better suction than any other little cleaner - and I tried them all! First suck up the spill, then put water or a cleaning product in the side to spray it on the carpet. Then suck up the dirty cleaning solution. You could even put the cleaning solution in a little spray bottle if you didn't want to bother having to clean out the spray part of the machine after using something other than water. You might not even need something for smells if you use this machine to suck up the spill and rinse the spot with water or water with a little white vinegar. I LOVE this machine!

Can this item be used to clean curtains while they are hanging?
