Our customers love our US Recording /TME® AC1LWH1000 series leader tape, and we sell many many thousands of rolls a year on all our selling platforms. This version comes on a professional NAB hub which is the same hub used by various tape manufacturers for years for their reels of recording tape. At this point in time there's three basic types of leader tape available in various widths: The first type is paper leader tape which is preferred by some but very hard to find and manufacturing is is messy, and murder on the cutting blades. The second type is a coated leader tape which is simply clear leader with a colored resin on one side of the tape. You can get this in various colors, but the coating tends to shed off, and some coatings over time will degrade and get sticky, laminating itself to your tape and adjacent layers of leader tape. The goal of leader tape is to protect your recordings, not ruin them so coated leader is not recommended. The third type, the preferred type, is a solid color mylar and this can be white or clear. We find clear leader is hard to use although it's far less expensive than a solid colored mylar leader. What we offer here is solid white opaque leader tape: This unspliced 1000 foot roll of TME® AC1LWH1000P-NAB is manufactured by US Recording Media/ TME® to the demanding specifications of the US Library of Congress, and other leading government and private archives. This professional leader tape is plastic, and solid white in color. All other white leader tapes that we know of currently being made are clear plastic with one side coated with a colored resin. We do not recommend using any coated leader tapes for long term storage, as the leader can (and eventually will) degrade, shed, and the white resin can peel off the clear backing plastic and stick to your tape. We've seen this happen first hand, and so have our many government, university, and studio archive customers.
