What does this litter smell like? Is it overwhelmingly perfumed?

It doesn't smell. It only releases the scent when wet but we could never smell anything. Personally I have bought every kind of Dr. Elsey's and found this one to be more dusty. We now use the regular unscented (blue bag).

Is this product non tracking?

This is not low tracking at all. I'm having to sweep way more than with other litter. The hunt for a good one continues

Can this litter be used with an automatic cleaning cat box?

I have a simply clean circular auto cat box for nearly ten years. I’ve tried nearly all major brand premium litters. Nothing works anywhere near as well as Dr Elseys. AND it’s far cheaper!

is this septic tank safe?

After utilizing a septic tank on a farm for 30 years my suggestion no. I recommend you dispose of this or any litter it in the landfill or, curbside trash.
