D-LINK DSR-250N_1 router
I've owned this unit for two years, and wish I'd never seen it. It began to malfunction about one year ago (the security certificate failed), and since then its operation has been erratic and very annoying. Extended sessions with the Chat and the Self-Service portal at D-Link have all failed to produce proper help or rational answers. I have most of the transcript avilable for inspection if required.

Buggy, sluggish, unreliable & idiosyncratic
I'll keep this brief because I've put more than enough time into this product! Okay, so I'm not a fan of the "whatever you do don't buy this product" style of review, but I just can't recommend it.I bought it to provide a VPN, and I figured that a D-Link product would be good. In fact, I said to a colleague at the time that although it's expensive, I'd save so much time buying D-Link that it would be a worthwhile investment. On paper, it looks great. I can put up with its shortcomings, e.g. the lack of integrated ADSL. But overall, I find it buggy, sluggish, unreliable & idiosyncratic:The VPN is incredibly difficult to get working and I can only get it working with Windows clients, not Linux. It struggles to issue DHCP addresses over repeaters. The wireless switches off, for no apparent reason, with monotonous regularity. It often crawls along, for unknown reasons, especially in the admin interface. So, I've ended up using a file hosting service, assigning static IPs to devices and having some wired connections. Not D-Link's finest hour!

OK - needs patching to work
After receiving this router, I spent a night trying to get it to work. I ended up raising a support call, and the operator was really helpful. I patched the firmware - and the wireless part did not work. The router was replaced, and the same problem. I eventually patched it with firmware 1.05B73_WW, and the wireless worked.I didn't expect to have to spend the better part of 2 days debugging to get an out of the box bit of kit to work. Now I have got it working, I won't send it back. I wouldn't recommend getting one though! It was too painful to configure. It better last now.Now I have it working the signal is strong and throughput solid, just a nightmare to set up.

I've had this router since June and have been trying ...
I've had this router since June and have been trying to get its faults fixed by D-Link tech support for four months now.Basically the internet is totally unreliable. Sort-of-OK some of the time, glitching, slow and disconnecting the rest of the time.Tech support are bloody hopeless, they've been outsourced to some other company who can't help you and don't know anything.Engineers are all based in the far east so if you want them to dial in to your router to see why their product is such an appalling failure you have to have everything set up for them between 6am and 1pm UK Time.Nobody to call in the UK. Nobody who understands the problem. Nobody who cares.Well, no more D-Link for me.

not reliable poor product
spent months on this as like tohers said I thought it was D-link so would be ok. Neede VPN and this seemed to fit the bill. Its unreliable, slow and buggy even after firmware upgrades. don't buy it.
