Breville BEW600XL Hot Wok

I purchased this as a gift for my sister as we love our own Breville wok so much. Very high quality. Achieves high heat, accurate controls. Easy to disassemble and clean. Highly recommend.

Looking for a new electric wok and was torn between this and a couple of others. Having read some of the nay sayers reviews, I was wondering but the overwhelming number of very positive reviews swayed me. I'm glad I did. Ordered it and got it pronto through Prime. I rarely rave about anything but I can tell you that this is absolutely the correct purchase for our needs. The wok is big. I mean big. Build like a tank and very well made. Cleaned, seasoned, and put to use the first day. It performed superbly. Very hot it you want it with plenty of heat capacity when you add ingredients. The no-stick finish works well but I always use a bit of oil in my cooking regardless. Those reviews complaining about disassembling the wok from the base puzzle me. I had no trouble at all removing it and reassembling it. I did it several times to see if it was as easy and I thought. Push the release knob prior to turning (as marked on it pretty plainly) and correct alignment make it a breeze. I imagine those struggling haven't read the "push" part of the instructions molded into the release know. I give this wok a 5 star rating because it certainly deserves more than that. If you are serious about your cooking, I recommend you give this electric wok serious consideration.

Quick update since my negative experience below. Breville product support has been very cooperative and are working to resolve the lid issue. It’s important to register a product as soon as you buy it.I gave the review below when I first got my wok. Yesterday I had a disappointing experience. While something was cooking and with no one touching the lid, the bottom screw on the lid fell right into my boiling sauce. I dug out a screw, spring, rubber ring and some kind of seal. This wok is not even 6 months old, how is the lid falling apart? I still love the wok but am disappointed about the lid.This is such a great quality wok! I’ve only had it for a month and I love it. I like that the base detaches, makes cleaning easier. It’s a little heavier than I expected which is not a problem for me. I store mine in one of my deep kitchen drawers.

I've only had this Breville Wok for a few weeks and I rarely use our cookstove now. I use this for just about everything. It gets HOT real fast, responds to temperature adjustments immediately. The walls of it are tall enough where a lot of the frying splatter doesn't fly out like a typical frying pan. Fried potatoes come out perfect every time. Eggs anyway you want them.. perfect every time. Veggies for stir fry are so easy in this. Some people complain about the size but it's not THAT big.. I just leave it on our stainless steel roll-a-round island table. Looks nice and is handy for doing burrito's, French fries, bacon, perfect for laying a tortilla in to fry or warm up.. we did salmon steaks a couple of nights ago. One end of the salmon steak is always thinner than the other end. EASY for this wok! Put the thickest part towards the middle of the wok leaving the thinner part pointing up the side of the wok. The middle is the hottest, the walls are a tat cooler. Perfect compliment in the thicker/thinner salmon steaks.. the entire steak was done at the same time without worrying about getting the thinner part over done. I've had a bajillion different kinds of pots and pans, woks, pressure cookers, steamer, etc in my life.. I've NEVER had a pan clean as easy as this Breville wok does. Literally you just wipe it clean in 5 seconds... Looks like brand new. The lid is perfect. I can't say enough good about this wok.. Sure.. you can buy a Presto for half the price.. but you'll not get a Breville! This is a Cadillac utensil... expect to pay a more for the best! Perfect for any thing you've got cooking! And it is one of those utensils that friends will say.. "What's that?" It's a beauty!

It is very sturdy and heats quickly/evenly. Cleanup is a breeze as the base disconnects easily from the non-stick cooking surface. Well worth the price and would definitely purchase again.
