Just what I needed and without another electrical outlet!
Purchased a converter on the recommendation from other Amazon users who were helping me connect my Sennheiser wireless headphones via RCA/3.5mm jack to my LG Smart TV that only had Optical Toslink connection (no RCA, no 3.5mm jack). I was worried having yet another "connection" that may make the 'phones work but with a delayed sound match to picture (like bad lip-syncing/voice overs) but nope, not with this model. I opted for this one particular one over the model the other users mentioned bc I didn't want to have to use another DC/AC plug and this one uses USB to power it and cheaper by ten bucks to the former. I have a bunch of empty USB outlets on my TV so it works out perfectly! It's small and lightweight so it could attach to the TV but I have it strategically hung on the wall mount bars without any problems.appreciate that it offers an on/off switch, if I want to power off for whatever reason but usually leave it on since I do use my 'phones daily with my neighbors STILL renovating while I work from home. (though I digress). So happy that I went with this model -- only one I found that was reasonably priced and didn't required another electrical outlet on my surge protector.

Need to use a clean DC power or an AC line conditioner
This device uses a mini USB port for its power source, and that's where all the trouble came from. I got this device all hooked up to my computer and speakers, and using a USB wall charger for the power source, and I noticed buzzing coming out of my speakers. I swapped out the USB wall charger for a different one, but then I noticed that whenever I turned on the lights to my room, the subwoofer would make a "thud" sound (which was a bit creepy sounding). So I tried connecting the power for the device directly to my PC, which was the worst of all and generated a lot of noise and hiss through my speakers. Finally, I hooked this device up to a USB battery pack (the ones you use for recharging cell phones on the go) and FINALLY I got clean sound (because I had clean power). So what does all this mean? It means that this probably won't work well for most people unless it is used with a power conditioner, in order to minimize power line noise and feedback coming through whatever speakers you hook up to it. It was so bad that I ended up returning it. Very disappointed.

Works perfect on my Samsung TV
This is a basic device to allow you to use your older audio receiver without an optical input. I have a new Samsung plasma TV, which did not have an analog output like the previous model. With this device I can now connect the optical output of the TV to my Onyko receiver. The device has a USB power input, and it comes with the cable. Which I then connected directly to my TV's USB port to power the converter. No power transformer needed to power it up! Very easy and simple to connect, not a lot of extra cables or power source needed. You will have to go into the TV's audio settings to convert the digital signal to the proper setting. No big deal, and it works with all the devices I have connected to the TV, such as Direct TV, and a Blu Ray player.

Additional Instructions You'll need to make it work
The converter did not originally work with my Tivo Series 3 HD DVR. Frequently Bought Together item, Toslink Digital Audio optical cable, was also purchased.Delivery was fast and undamaged.I was disappointed to find that the unit was USB powered and the Manual and instructions assumed thata USB-to-wall adapter was available. The need for an adapter should have been in large letters andBOLD in the product description and the USB-to-wall adapter should have appeared as a recommendeditem to purchase with the converter.A short USB cable was provided and may be enough for folks using the converter with devices that havea USB socket to power it.I purchased the unit to convert the optical Digital Audio Output from the Tivo into a wireless headset.Using the default Tivo settings, I heard the Tivo sound effects when navigating within Tivo. Although, once I selected a recording to play, all I heard was a loud ticking. While researching on the Panlong converter I found an alternate website that had this helpful message:"NOTE: Please set the output mode of your audio source to PCM/LPCM if you get sound like"da..da..da.."."Setting PCM on my Tivo Series 3 HDFrom Tivo Central >> Messages and Settings >> Settings >>Audio >> Dolby Digital>>The default on my Tivo was ( Dolby Digital )Select [ Dolby Digital to PCM ]With the Tivo audio output set to PCM the Panlong digital converter now works. The sound quality is good with no hissing.Recommendations :Have a USB power supply available, or order a USB-to-Wall adapter .Make sure that your audio output can be set to PCM/LPCM
