I bought these for home defense. Well, one is in the car. Fortunately I haven't had to use them. But I feel a little safer having them.

I wasn't expecting these to be amazing, given the price, and I got basically what I was expecting, hence the 4/5, but I think it's worth noting a few things that aren't fully transparent in the description.These are wooden dowels that were lathed to the shape of a bat. Is that how most bats are made? Sure, but these are noticeably that due to the lack of finish on the top end (a very sharp bevel, not fully rounded). In hindsight, you can see this in the picture, but I would note that the pictured ones seem to have been given a little more attention and polish than what I received as the finish of the pictured ones looks very uniform and mine would need some stain and sanding to look like that.Another noteworthy thing is that my two bats weigh pretty different weights. One is just over a pound and the other is almost 2 pounds. This won't super matter if you're just using them separately for self defense (I'll add my two sense on that in a second), but feels worth noting if you have dual wielding dreams. Plus the inconsistent weight is just another point against the quality control of these.I also think it's worth noting that these are likely to break. While wooden bats do start as a dowel that is lathed, a bit of research informed me that they also undergo several steps that harden the bat to make it able to withstand hitting a ball. While I can't know for sure, I'd be willing to bet these bats are just lathed and sanded before shipping them off. That, combined with the obvious imperfections in the two I got, make me pretty convinced these will break after little actual use. So decorative or self defense applications should be fine, but if you crack your attacker hard enough, that'll likely be the end of the bat. Though that said, it'll have done its job in that case, just good to keep in mind.For me, these will work for what I got them for after a little stain and sanding, but if you're wanting to actually hit balls with these, I'd recommend spending a little more.

I purchased these to be used as "tire thumpers" and whatever else I need it for.. After cutting off about 4 inches, sanding the cut end, drilling a hole in the handle and adding a paracord lanyard, it's perfect. Fits in the pocket on the door like I wanted. Nice weight although it could use more on the barrel end.

I got this set of 2 so I can feel more protected at home. Love them

Bought them for self defense. Comes in Looking dirty and rough. But may do the job.

I wanted a bat to play some casual ball with and I found this two pack. Initially I thought these were an awesome purchase as they are described as being good for both kid and adult baseball and softball.When I got them, I immediately noticed the quality control issues in them. Both the top and base of the bat had clear signs of them being fresh off the lathe. I didn’t really mind this considering the price but it should be pointed out regardless.When I actually go out for the first time to use one of the two bats, I set up a standard hardball to hit and after one swing, I hear a crack and realize the bat broke in half. I think it could just be a fluke but then I use the other bat and the same thing happened.It really bummed me out that these didn’t work for what they were described for. Definitely look to spend a bit more on a better quality bat if you want to actually play ball.

These 2 bats are the perfect size for self defense. They needed very little sanding, and you can add a stain finish or clear coat for durability. A very good value. I hope & pray that I don't have to use these in self defense.
