WeMO WiFi Light Switch + Smart Plug Bundle

After starting with one WeMo switch several years ago, I've gradually added more (as well as smart plugs). When they're working correctly, they're great. Generally easy to set up, and simple to connect through Alexa. That said, the WeMo app is useless. More often than not, my devices show up there but as "not accessible," so there's no controlling them there (even while they're functioning fine otherwise). Yesterday, all but one of my WeMos disappeared completely from the app, and every attempt to reinstall them has failed. Their "tech support" is a joke. It's not even really a support line; they expect you to DM them through Twitter. Their "solution" was to force close the app (because, duh, I hadn't already done that a zillion times), then to delete and reinstall the app (no effect), and then to go through and reboot all of the devices - which I reminded them I'd been trying to do but the connections kept failing. Their response? "Try another device to use the app."If you're lucky enough not to ever have problems - or, heaven forbid, to even have to replace your modem/router (because then you have to start from scratch) - then these will be fine. But proceed with caution before you go all in like I did and try to automate your home with a dozen WeMo products. It'll only end in frustration.

They have a hard time connecting and I’m always having issues buy one and play with it for awhile it work great for one year use it for Christmas lights. Also for basement switches because my kids forget to turn them off. I end up still having to go down there because the switches have a hard time connecting.

Tried for several hours to get the light switch to attach to wi-fi, preset many times, pulled switch out of wall to determine whether enclosure was issues, all to no avail. In the end returned and bought V2 of the switch instead. V2 connected within 2 minutes IN THE SAME LOCATION and has been working happily ever since. I'm guessing the V2 has a better radio, spend the extra $$ and save yourself some heartache.
