Best Coffee
My favorite coffee. Worth every penny. Has hints of chocolate that just set it over the edge for one of the best coffees in this price range I’ve had.

It’s alright
This coffee is ok. I did not really care for it that much myself, and found it to be less flavorful than hoped for, with a bit of a chicory taste to me. I would’ve given this three stars, but my wife feels that this is worthy of four stars, she likes it better than I do, still not overly impressed, but thought it was pretty good, and she felt it had more of a smoky flavor. The beans in the bag did have a nice coffee aroma, but I did not feel that that came through enough in the brewed coffee. We did enjoy this coffee much more than the other flavor that we tried from this same brand, their Flight Seasonal Espresso, which we did not like. This bag of coffee I am reviewing was received in October 2024 and says it is best by March 2025. It does not list the date that it was roasted.

Excellent quality dark roast
I am not typically a fan of dark roasts, but this had a really nice flavor that isn't overly strong compared to a lot of dark roasts. It has what I would describe as a slightly smoky flavor that is pleasant. Overall a very balanced flavor profile with just that bit of smokiness. As someone who usually drinks a medium roast, I think this is an excellent choice if you're looking to get into dark roasts but don't want something overly aggressive to the palate.I grinded the beans with the same grind setting as my typical coffee beans which are kirkland brand, and the resulting coarseness was basically identical, so I would suggest just starting with your normal grind setting for these beans.

Smooth, rich flavor
This dark roast coffee is rich in flavor yet quite smooth for a dark roast. I like my coffee strong, and I brewed a generous amount after I freshly ground it to achieve the desired hit of caffeine. I was surprised that it wasn't bitter at all--not nearly as much as other dark roast coffees I've had, at least. Yet I still got that almost chocolatey flavor of a dark, rich brew. Really good!

Smells better than tastes
Unfortunately this bag came slightly opened as there were a few beans in the delivery box that had popped out, so I'm not sure if that affected my bags freshness. It smelled good and bold when I opened up the bag. I made my cup in a pour over and I thought the flavor was just ok. I like dark roasts, but this one didn't have a lot of character or chocolaty notes. It definitely tastes dark...not offensive or overly bitter, but not my favorite either. Too bad, because I do prefer to support small businesses.

Nice medium robustness. Not as strong as I hoped.
These are beans and need to be grinded for the drip coffee machine that I use. This is 'darker' roast not dark roast. I guess there is a difference. Maybe it stands between medium and dark roast and that's where I will put it. I expected strong robust full bodied taste but it was more medium to me. Aroma was great. The whole kitchen smelled of coffee when I grinded it. There is a hint of chocolate in it. Overall, it tasted satisfying. No sour aftertaste. Not bad in my opinion. I think it will please most regular coffee drinkers.

Fresh whole beans
This Red Rooster Coffee, Raven Dark Roast has a deep coffee flavor that is not bitter. The beans are fresh. You do need a coffee grinder to grind the beans so that you can use them in your coffee maker. I added milk and some sweetener for a truly enjoyable cup of coffee. The bag is resealable. These coffee beans would make a nice gift for the coffee drinker on your list. Pair it with a coffee grinder if they don't already own one!

Smells Delicious
The Red Rooster Coffee Roaster's Raven Dark Roast makes a pretty decent cup of coffee. My husband especially liked it; I felt like I needed to dress it up quite a bit to really enjoy my cups but I'm not as big a dark roast fan as he is. Right from the bag, the aroma is wonderful. The flavor is deep and rich, but I don't really pick up on the dark chocolate notes. For as dark as this is, I was surprised it was not bitter. If you are a fan of dark roasts that are basic and not complicated, it would be a good one to try.
